This is great! Learning about how my 30+ years of being vegan has really paid off. All the side health benefits that I never even knew of! I‘m going to have to buy his cookbook now!!! 😳🥬🍇 😃

thegreensofa Hi @JennyM , thank you! 😘 Yes it‘s been a while I‘ve been only able to come and go, I‘m on my 3rd attempt at a phone and it‘s getting replaced again tomorrow for a 4th time 🤦🏼‍♀️. Having to borrow hotspots! But on the good side I‘ve definitely been reading 😁. Hope you are well too! ❤️❤️ 2w

Confession: I #crave desserts! I grew up in a family where there was always a dessert option at the end of lunch and dinner. So, it should come as no surprise that when I do make something from scratch, it tends to be a dessert.

Here‘s a recent cookbook buy. The photos are gorgeous, and I‘m hoping I can try recipes soon from this. I‘m vegetarian, not vegan, though I find I try to get as close to vegan as possible in some recipes. #Movember

Librarybelle I think this would also work for #NFNov ! @Clwojick @rsteve388 2w
Cinfhen Yum!! That looks great 😋 2w
Addison_Reads This is my go-to book for quick vegan desserts. The peanut butter blondies are probably my family's favorite. 2w

I‘ve been a pescatarian since I was 17 but trying to find specific recipes that are healthy can be difficult. I only eat fish 3-4 times a week so the rest of my diet is vegan - the tagged book is excellent because it includes lots of variations of the recipes so you don‘t get bored

@Chrissyreadit - these were the ones I mentioned 😊

Chrissyreadit Nice! I‘m going to look up mindful vegan meals 2w

Two simply yummy vegan cookbooks. These ladies know how to put the sizzle in animal-free eating with hearty, simple, and utterly satisfying meals. For people who hesitate to cook vegan food these books will help you be instantly successful. I‘m starting to think about preparing a vegan (American) Thanksgiving and both of these books provide wonderful options. Additionally, the authors are Canadian so I‘m extra happy! 🇨🇦

Chrissyreadit What is your favorite recipe from these books? 3w
Come-read-with-me @Chrissyreadit Is it cheating to say all of them??? In HIAV it‘s Classic Spinich Lasagna and creamy coconut pie. In GoV Sarah Haamer‘s Stuffed Mushrooms and Portobello Mushroom Bake. And then on page 2 I like........ 🤣 Thanks for asking! 3w
rather_be_reading this cookbook has been on my list forever! 3w

I dunno. Food and its effects can be scary. For a while, I was going to school to be a dietitian (it's still an interest, but it's much more math involved then I'd like) and it's crazy how food can be wonderful but can also just be poison. People straight up killing themselves with what they eat.

wanderinglynn My frustration is that there‘s so much info out there and some of it conflicts. So what does one follow? 1mo

UnidragonFrag @wanderinglynn that's the problem. Health is very personal. What works for one person, won't for another. That's why all those trend diets can be so dangerous. It honestly is best to go to a doctor, but generally... variety and restraint are the two biggest things for eating well. 1mo

If you haven‘t tried Burger Kings Impossible Wopper I suggest it. There is a little taste difference but not much. Today I learned you can replace the meat on most of the sandwiches with impossible meet. So lunch is an impossible Bacon King. Now if they make impossible bacon I can be in heaven.

vivastory I'm very intrigued by this... especially since cheeseburgers have been the only food standing between me & a vegetarian diet 1mo
LibrarianRyan @vivastory in the month I have unfortunately been to BK 3 times but I have not been disappointed once. My impossiable was a little done on the edges but otherwise it was great. I‘ve had other veggie burger and I love them but they all have a specific taste. Plus this is the only Fast Food place I know that has them. 1mo
AmyG My husband and I went a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely get it again as I try not to eat red meat. 1mo

QuietlyLaura My husband loves BK‘s Impossible Whopper. I wanted to try it but it doesn‘t smell good to me. ☺️ 1mo
rachelm They‘re yummy! Not healthy per se but very yummy! 1mo
Samplergal I wonder how it rates in iron. I was diagnosed with severe anemia and am getting tired of red meat. 1mo
LibrarianRyan @Samplergal I don't know. I just looked it up. According to Health line, more than an Beef Burger. You could also do Black Bean Burgers which some Fast Casual spots offer. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/impossible-burger#nutrit... 1mo
JoScho I haven‘t eaten beef or pork in years and when this came out I was so excited! I can‘t even tell you how many I have had and I had no clue you could get the impossible patty on any sandwich-game changer! 1mo
ravenlee @vivastory as a longtime vegetarian, here‘s my concern - BK doesn‘t have dedicated prep space for the non-meat option, so it‘s cooked and prepped with the regular patties. It‘s cross-contaminated, which makes it not entirely vegetarian. For a lot of people that doesn‘t matter, but I can tell you that eventually that much can make a vegetarian really sick. 1mo
LibrarianRyan @ravenlee I have seen other people talking about that as well other places. But it's a start. 1mo
LibrarianRyan @JoScho I could live without beef, but I would find it hard to live without Bacon or sausage. 1mo
ravenlee What frustrates me greatly is that BK in the UK had vegetarian options 20 years ago, with dedicated cook and prep space (down to color-coded utensils for veg-only condiments), yet they‘re unable/unwilling to bring that across the pond. 1mo
LibrarianRyan @ravenlee yeah that does suck. 🤬 1mo
Mdargusch Bacon substitutes just aren‘t the same. 1mo
