Candle Cove and Other Stories
Candle Cove and Other Stories | Kris Straub
4 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
An online forum discusses a horrifying children's TV show remembered from youth. An ancient dead thing finds its way back to life via others' dreams. An isolated man learns what it's like to be abandoned by existence itself. These stories and many more in this collection of short horror from the creator of Candle Cove. Contains work originally printed in Ichor Falls: A Visitor's Guide and But In The Dead of Night: Selections from Thirty Years of Nightmares.

Pickpick

Soft pick. This is a strange little book of very short horror and horror-adjacent stories. They're intriguing, but often only just enough to give you a taste of a creative premise. I think they're supposed to be patterned on creepypasta, since the title story is a pretty well-known one. A fun, quick read but it did kind of leave me wanting.

Mehso-so

The work of a man who does indeed have many fantastic ideas and a novel way of bringing them across, it nevertheless fails to ultimately register fear for someone who's heavily steeped in online horror stories, although someone with a softer disposition is likely to be effected. Want to read Ichor Falls next.

A collection containing the eponymous short story for which the collection is named after. I have high hopes; that story shook me in a way that nearly nothing else has ever managed.

Is anyone else watching this on SyFy? Based on a story by Kris Straub. I've not heard of the story or author before, but I plan to read it soon. I'm just starting the finale. Spooky! The title of the show is Channel Zero:Candle Cove, so I'm assuming it will be an anthology similar to American Horror Story. The 6-part series ended 11/15, but I'm having a DVR catch-up day since I have 4 days off this week. Definitely SCARY.

JessClark78 Sounds interesting. I haven't heard of it. 7y
