The Nightly Disease
The Nightly Disease | Max Booth III
10 posts | 3 read | 1 reading | 13 to read
Sleep is just a myth created by mattress salesmen.
Isaac, a night auditor of a hotel somewhere in the surreal void of Texas, is sick and tired of his guests. When he clocks in at night, hes hoping for a nice, quiet eight hours of Netflix-bingeing and occasional masturbation. What he doesnt want to do is fetch anybody extra towels or dive face-first into somebodys clogged toilet. And he sure as hell doesnt want to get involved in some trippy owl conspiracy or dispose of any dead bodies. But heythats life in the hotel business.
Welcome to The Nightly Disease. Please enjoy your stay.

#FeedTheBirds #MusicalNewYear This book was soo weird and right up my alley. This poor girl whose name is Mandy and in the very beginning of the book tells us this about the owl, doesn‘t show up to a work meeting 2 days later because she is dead.... from having her face picked off by owls. Worst yet, is that there are leaked photos of it on the internet. The rest of this book, owls show up at the strangest times. I really liked this book.

Cinfhen This book is screaming “Reggie “ 😂😂😂 6y
Cathythoughts Sounds very interesting.... 👍🏻♥️ 6y

batsy Ok, owls and weirdness!! I'm already intrigued 🦉 6y
Reggie @batsy I discovered the author in a book of short stories and his was so off the wall that I looked into whether he had a book just as off the wall and it doesn‘t disappoint. 6y
readordierachel Sounds pretty wild! 6y
vivastory I read this recently & really liked it. I first heard about this when he posted on his Litsy account 6y
Reggie @readordierachel it is wild. Off subject I used to call this girl I worked with Owl because she was that person who was always coming into the last bit of our gossip saying Whooo Whooo. Lol 6y
EyesOnly34 Thanks for the follow! I will have to read langan‘s other one! 6y

There are many instances of #blurredlines of reality in this book. All of them have to do with owls. Did they or didn‘t they? #heatinjuly

Cinfhen How do you recall so much of what u read???? It‘s amazing‼️‼️🙌🏻 6y
Reggie @Cinfhen, this is why I like Kindle. You highlight passages, Kindle remembers, a prompt gives you a feeling you might have gotten from a book then you just go back to that book and its highlights. Ezpz (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Ahhhh!!! #SecretsRevealed 😉 6y
Cathythoughts I love being able to highlight passages too 👍🏻 6y
Centique @Reggie using highlighting - now that‘s super clever! 6y

Pickpick

Isaac is the night auditor of a hotel with an obsession for owls. With every customer service moment we watch a piece of his soul be torn from him. Then he picks up a wallet that doesn‘t belong to him that leads to a dead body halfway through this book that devolves into this crazy nightmare that I‘m not sure the book or the reader ever really wakes up from. I really dug this but it certainly won‘t be for everyone.

vivastory I forgot I had this on my Kindle, might have to check it out this weekend 7y
Reggie @vivastory I felt like it was Clerks meets Tarantino meets the Coen Brothers meets Hitchcock meets Airplane. Lol. 7y
vivastory All things I love. I'm sold! 7y
minkyb ...a piece of his soul being torn from him...that is awful and now stuck in my head! 7y
vivastory I just read this after reading his article "20 essential crime & horror crossovers" on my new favorite site crimereads. I loved it! 6y

THE NIGHTLY DISEASE reads like it was written by a great Russian existentialist held at knife-point by Jim Jarmusch and Tobe Hooper, who force the guy to take his pants off. Meanwhile, one Cohen brother and a magical realist stand by watching. I love it.

Reggie Just started this. The introduction alone is lonely, strange, and beautiful. Lol 7y

Mehso-so

Not really my cup of tea when it comes to content, but I liked the author's way of writing a lot. I'll definitely check out some of his other works when I've got the funds available.

Okay. The smudge/blur tool is gone. I'm not happy about this.

Dragon I'm missing that feature, it was very handy. 🐉 8y
Donna_sBookMinute Oh. I didn't miss it. You checked all the sub-menus? 8y
Sweettartlaura Yeah, that's a disappointment. It was by far one of my most favorite features😕 8y

readinginthedark Me too! 8y
athorne @Donna_sBookMinute Yep. 😿 Double checked to be sure. 8y
Donna_sBookMinute If I wanted to block some text, I'd try >Focus >Linear. I've only played around with it for a few seconds; but it seems like that would do the same thing as the Blur tool. Hope this helps. 8y
BookishFeminist Download the Aviary app & edit your photos there. It's the same photo capture & editing as the old one on Litsy. They say they're working on adding a blur tool back. 8y
PurpleyPumpkin Thanks for mentioning this @BookishFeminist. I think I'll be using Aviary quite a bit! 8y
athorne @Donna_sBookMinute I do that if it's a sizeable quote. The one liners, I prefer to section off on their own. @BookishFeminist That's good to know! :D And I'll download Aviary in the meantime! 8y
