Josh Neufeld really captured the attitude of the people of New Orleans before Katrina, the shock and despair after the levee breach, and the determination to rebuild our beloved city. I‘m giving this book all the stars. It‘s excellent.

If you're unfamiliar with what happened in New Orleans during and after Hurricane Katrina, then this book is an excellent introduction to the events as they unfolded, broadly and for various individuals. I was mostly interested in how the individuals highlighted here eventually returned to recover both themselves and their city. Obviously, this is a difficult read, and still relevant to social and political discourse in the USA. 💚💚💚
