Lieutenant Apollo Floros can ace tactical training missions, but being a single dad to his twin daughters is more than he can handle. He needs live-in help, and he's lucky a friend's younger brother needs a place to stay. He's surprised to see Dylan all grown up with a college degreeand a college athlete's body. Apollo's widowed heart may still be broken, but Dylan has his blood heating up. It's been eight years since the teenage Dylan followed Apollo around like a lovesick puppy, and it's time he showed Lieutenant Hard-to-Please that he's all man nowan adult who's fully capable of choosing responsibility over lust. He can handle Apollo's muscular sex appeal, but Apollo the caring father? Dylan can't afford to fall for that guy. He's determined to hold out for someone who's able to love him back, not someone who only sees him as a kid brother. Apollo is shocked by the intensity of his attraction to Dylan. Maybe some no-strings summer fun will bring this former SEAL back to life. But the combination of scorching desire and warm affection is more than he'd expected, and the emotion between them scares him senseless. No fling lasts forever, and Apollo will need to decide what's more importanthis past or his futureif he wants to keep Dylan in his life. I read this series out of order & had put this one off because Dylan was annoying in other books. He‘s much more likable in this. Definitely not my fave of the series but I liked it. #romantsy

CarolynM I like that s series. I'm reading no.7 at the moment. 🙂 6y

Annabeth Albert always makes me cry. With her second military romance, she delves into grief, parenthood, and responsibility as her heroes explore their attraction and wrestle with emotions they aren't quite ready to process. It's hot, sweet, and deeply affecting.

That said, I didn't feel the usual INTENSE DRIVE to keep reading--but even an Annabeth Albert novel you can stand to put down every once in a while is pretty damned good.

1. Here's the trifle I made at Christmas. It's my own take on my grandma's recipe and it was frickin awesome.
2. AT ATTENTION in 4 words: widowed father loves again
3. My dentist was stymied because she COULD NOT find my wisdom teeth, so she sent me for a fancy whole-head X-Ray that confirmed I don't have any.
4. Kid Me loved Scooby Doo and The Racoons. Adult Me loves ATLA and Aldnoah.Zero.
5. I'm a Cancer. Cancerian?

sloanghost That looks like something we used to make at teen choir called Cherry Yum Yum! (I don't remember if it had cake layers though--we didn't call it a trifle) 7y

🌟🌟🌟 (3 stars) Three Thoughts 1) a cute, quick story which is what I've come to expect from Annabeth Albert 2) the main characters could be a little frustrating at times 3) a book with kids where the kids didn't seem lifeless and fake
