Wilhelmina "Will" Huxstep is a creative soul struggling to come to terms with a family tragedy. She crafts whimsical lamps, in part to deal with her fear of the dark. As she wraps up another summer in her mountain town, she longs for unplugged adventures with her fellow creative friends, Autumn, Noel, and Reese. Little does she know that she will get her wish in the form of an arts carnival and a blackout, courtesy of a hurricane named Whitney, which forces Will to face her fear of darkness.

I enjoyed the first two thirds of this, but it was the last third that packed a real emotional punch. I don‘t think a graphic novel has ever led me to tears until this one. It was a sweet story.

I Love this book and this Arthur because she uses Simple, great, funny words. I loved the illustrations in this book alone with the main character and her friends. If you like Romain and novels this is the book for you.❤️❤️

Dealing with grief is always hard, especially when you're a teen. Gulledge explores that with compassion, supportive characters, and beautiful art. I particularly related to the idea of avoiding idleness and quiet time in the dark to avoid feeling the emotional weight of hard times. I just wish it were in color, but other that that, just a sweet story that I'd love to own.

This afternoon I took the time to reread this great graphic novel in preparation for next weekend. The author/illustrator is going to be at #AwesomeCon and I'm hoping to sneak away from the booth so I can meet her and get my book signed.

jmtrivera I'm going to #AwesomeCon too! 9mo
GondorGirl @jmtrivera Yay! If you're wandering around the dealer room stop in to the Crimson Chain Leatherworks booth and say hi! 9mo
jmtrivera Will do! I usually do my vendor wander on Friday night, so I'll keep my eyes open! 9mo

This was a sweet graphic novel. I enjoyed how there was so much going on in the shadows. #G #LitsyAtoZ #GraphicNovel2019

I read this YA graphic novel today from my public library. It is about Wilhelmina, aka Will, whose recent losses have left her afraid of the dark. When her town has a days-long blackout, she has to face her fears, helping friends and finding herself along the way. The black and white illustrations have lots of things hiding in the shadows.

zembla Wow, that art is gorgeous. 13mo
tjwill @christinamcc Yes! I loved it! 13mo

This graphic novel was amazing. The art work was beautiful and the dialogue was profound. I can't recommend it enough, especially for those who have experienced trauma, tragedy, or loss. Plus, there's Serenity and Doctor Who references, which makes it brilliant.
