The poor get poorer, and the rich get richer and even get better, and stronger and even richer and the gap keeps increasing.
Heavy. But a good read. This books dives deep into the intricate issues poor people (less than $1/day) face across the globe. Highlights common stereotypes that we place on the poor and proves them or myth busts them sometimes showing how harmful the wrong stereotypes can be. I won‘t lie, I felt really overwhelmed by this book. There are so many problems all requiring individualized and detailed solutions. Overall good stuff!
The crowd is chaos for this session but he‘s a Nobel laureate so... fascinating presentation. His team‘s research found no correlation between pricing and use so they thoroughly debunked the theory that people should be forced to pay for mosquito nets to keep their kids safe because then they‘d use them. Malaria deaths have dropped over 25% world wide as a result of the mindset shift that now gives out the nets). Vital, wonderful work.
