If you're looking for an enjoyable, quick, summer read, this is a great choice. I'm not much a fan of typical romance novels, but Dinah Jefferies always surrounds love with social and cultural conflict and this time its British colonialism in India. Really enjoyed...though I still prefer the Tea Planter's Wife.

so-so

I love a good romance novel, but the constant 'will they, won't they get their happy ending' just got a bit irritating! The location of the novel is described with lush prose and attention to detail, but the storyline felt too convoluted and skipped to much from one location to another. This one just didn't do it for me.
