Slavery still exists. The atrocities currently happening in Libya made this book all the more poignant. The Underground Railroad is a very honest, brutally plain-talking novel about slavery in America. I cannot do this book justice and with the current state of affairs it is truly shocking and is all the more important you read this book and support organisations working to end the slavery in Libya. #mustread #libyaslavetrade

Very delayed review of this book. I found the first two thirds of the book a bit slow and frustrating. Progression of the storyline was too slow-moving for my liking. The last third was good and enjoyed the ending - an interesting story, but not my favourite style of writing.

Visited the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam last weekend and found my dream library inside 😍😍😍 who else dreams of having this in their home?! #homeinspo #bookporn

Soubhiville Wow!!! I‘d love a larger library, but since I only aspire to owning books I‘ve read or plan to read, I don‘t think I‘ll need it quite this big! How beautiful! 7y
ElleFish @Soubhiville I've done the same, but perhaps over the course of a lifetime I'm sure we can work up to this! 7y

💔 This book was so gripping, but also heart-breaking. As Maud, and elderly woman suffering from dementia, muddles through daily life trying to find her friend Elizabeth, she unknowingly uncovers clues to an unsolved 70-year old family mystery. Read this book!

Couldn't put this down ❤ absolutely loved this and was hooked from the beginning. A story split between 1930s Malaga and 1960s London, about an artist, their muse, family secrets, and cultural and political tensions. So much intrigue and mystery in one book. I loved her first book The Miniaturist, but loved this even more. Pick! Pick! Pick!

Adored this book (and so did Bernie)! This has been on my TBR list for ages and I wish I hadn't waited so long. A witty and endearing story about geneticist Don, who is on the Autistic spectrum and looking for love. I'd recommend this book to everyone, I was hooked from the first few pages. #rosieproject #ASD #catsoflitsy

Couldn't put this down! First psychological thriller of the year as I overdid it with them a bit last year. This had me hooked, with a split narrative following two different characters, gripped to see how their stories would intertwine. No spoilers, just go read it!

Before the Rains | Dinah Jefferies

If you're looking for an enjoyable, quick, summer read, this is a great choice. I'm not much a fan of typical romance novels, but Dinah Jefferies always surrounds love with social and cultural conflict and this time its British colonialism in India. Really enjoyed...though I still prefer the Tea Planter's Wife.

"There's a girl on the beach at high tide, lighting up the sea with her hands...She's waded into the ocean up to her waist, higher...And she's setting the sea on fire." - beautiful place to be reading such a powerful book. #power #sexism #feminism #holiday #reading

I was an emotional wreck by the end of this book 😭 pulled on the heart strings and had me questioning my own ethical stance on the storyline. A definite pick! #parental #love #loyalty #betrayal #honesty #romance

Loved, loved, loved! Stayed up late finishing it as I couldn't put it down. A gripping #thriller with a #dystopian feel to it. I loved how realistic it felt and how I couldn't quite predict events or the ending. Go read it!

Adored this book. I read it in just a couple hours and was incredibly moved once again by Sun-Mi Hwang's ability to write about #friendship, #love, #motherhood and #trauma and portray these themes through an animal. A sweet, touching story, definitely worth reading.

A really interesting storyline and concept, but I found it a little slow in places. The end really picked up pace and hit home though and living in the countryside myself added something to the reading experience.

MrBook I like this review and pic! 8y

Absolutely loved this book. Very witty and has a lot of heart ❤ Despite its comic and positive tone it still deals with real life issues with such feeling and sincerity. Would recommend to anyone.
