The Wrong Woman
The Wrong Woman | Cass Lennox
3 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
As an independent filmmaker, Katie Cherry is used to difficult shoots--but a band's music video in a tiny lesbian bar is proving worse than most. Stress-busting, expectation-free sex with Zay, the calm, gorgeous bartender, seems just the ticket. But then she and Zay discover the band's lead singer beaten into a coma in the bar bathroom. They need an alibi, but playing girlfriends is a role Katie's never excelled at, so she can't see this ending well. Zay Fahed-Smith finally getting her life back together after her junkie ex broke it apart. She's working part-time while pursuing her dream of being a lawyer, and definitely keeping things chill on the girls front. Of course, that's when a crime happens in her bar and her ex shows up wanting to try again. "Dating" Katie seems like the best way for Zay to keep her head down and teach her ex a lesson. Except pretty soon, the charade begins to feel less and less like acting. And when the attacker turns his attentions toward Katie, they have to cut through the lies to discover what's real.

Current view as I try to read the 60-pages I have left on this one. It's taken 2 months to read 280 pages. I'm not a fan.

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled 😍I have two tuxedo cats - love the black nose! 7y
WanderingBookaneer @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled : Mía is my eldest. He's 12, but he's the reason why I have a soft spot for tuxedo cats. 7y
Mariposa_Bookworm Kitty doesn't look too pleased either. My tuxedo is Oreo. He is very opinionated. 7y
WanderingBookaneer @Mariposa_Bookworm : Septimus & Octavia, the babies of the house, were loudly frolicking around him. 7y
Mimi28 My 18 year old cat doesn't like it when the others make noise either. Mogwai snapped at her today on my bed and she chased her all the way to under my mom's bed!! An 18 year old fighting a mischievous 10 year old Tortie. It was funny and exhausting at the same time, lol 7y

AmberJoy I thought sharing quotes drives interest in the book. 7y

josie281 I'm with @AmberJoy !! Quotes make me want to read! 7y
laurieluna Doesn't it say somethinh similar in all books though? Just not as long winded or as blunt! X 7y
Leniverse I'm pretty sure quotes are ok. You can usually use excerpts of copyrighted materials as long as you stay under 10% of the total. That's the rule for students copying chapters for text books. And you can normally quote anything and anyone as long as you give due credit! 7y
tracyrowanreads They're not talking about quotes, they're talking about the whole book, or book piracy. Quote away, it's fair use as it would be in a review. 7y
tracyrowanreads Also that's a very poor anti-piracy statement. I'm all for authors taking a stand, but to say that loaning an ebook is not the same as loaning a paperback puts the whole argument into some wooly territory in terms of how digital rights differ from print rights, something which has yet to be adequately hashed out, IMO. 7y
ReadingEnvy Yeah copyright law and fair use trumps this statement. 7y
Scurvygirl I'm pretty sure you can let people borrow certain if not all ebooks on Amazon, unless they did away that feature. Some have a download to USB and some are loan this title. 7y
GypsyKat Wow 7y
Ubookquitous Technology complicates things... Quotes are ok if credited, excepts to under the fair use laws. While blunt, it is accurate. Given the authors make less on ebooks it does mean each copy hurts a bit more. Think of digital music and napster - people didn't make a dub for a friend, they shared files on a system that allowed millions of copies to be shared free. While less common, book piracy hurts authors. Yes, some ebooks allow limited sharing 7y
Ubookquitous (Cont) in the rights, and you can't resell your read ebook, but in general you paid significantly less for it (and less went to the author). Those $1.99 kindle deals help get the word out on a book... Move it up the "hot" lists, but think how little the author gets per book. I can see why an author got blunt about it. 7y
