I usually don‘t like short story books but this set of horror/fantasy stories based on the PI adventures of one really rough werewolf with,of course, a heart of gold were lots of fun. Especially because the narrator sounded just right for a down and under ex-cop with anger issues

When an author that you now love PM's you on Twitter to thank you for your blog review, then proceeds to have a convo over two days with you... 😳🤗

melrailey I saw where he is going to be at a later cal book festival in September and was thinking about reading his stuff. This really makes me want to. What would you recommend? I have his X-files book (because, of course, I am an X-Phile). 8y
NovelGirl82 I've heard that is great! I'm very interest in that one, too! This is actually the first of his that I have read. He writes in several different genres- if you like UF, this is great (love his character!) & everyone says that his Joe Ledger series is excellent. The Pine Deep series, which I'm starting, leans more towards horror. His YA zombie series, Rot & Ruin, is supposed to be awesome, too. Sorry I'm not more help. I'm fairly new to him, still. 8y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. LOVED this collection of short stories about a P.I who is a werewolf!! I totally want to read one of Maberry's series of full length novels. Any suggestions on which series to start with?

Dogearedcopy I'm a big fan of Joe Ledger in audio! 'Patient Zero' is the first-in-series, though "Countdown" is a prequel short. I believe there is also a little crossover with the Pine Deep Trilogy. The Joe Ledger series is a high octane Mil-Fic run of books about a team of guys who counter villains who seek world destruction... Be prepared for zombies, viruses, etc. 8y
Karkar I just finished the first Pine Deep novel. I really liked it but it has gore if you do not like that... 8y

callunakeep @Karla Pine Deep was mentioned in this book several times!! In fact I think I have been "spoilered" where Pine Deep is concerned! LOL. I have absolutely no problem at all with gore! ??. 8y

This collection of five stories features Sam Hunter, Maberry's very unique ex-cop turned Private Investigator. While each story works well on its own, you can't help but feel that Hunter is a key player in Maberry's mythos. On the negative side, each story follows a similar formula, so they may be better experienced individualally then one after another. Yet, this is a small quibble since the formula was created by Maberry.
