This book was funny and weird and provocative and brilliant and completely bonkers. And I couldn‘t put it down. Percival Everett is an absolute gift to literature. #AuthorAMonth

Well, this was one of the more unusual reading experiences I‘ve had! The main character‘s last name is Poitier, and his first name is Not Sidney. Much hilarity and clever dialogue ensues due to this unusual name. Not Sidney is Black, and is the victim of all kinds of racial prejudice - truly serious American societal issues - but somehow Percival Everett manages to write these scenes as humorous. Very skillful. ⬇️
Everett infuses this book with his signature humor and habit of working on many levels while exploring the life of young Not Sidney Poitier. I see in this book glimmers of Erasure, The Trees, and James and, as usual with him, I really enjoyed it.
Another insightful and hilarious read from Percival Everett! I love this book for a number of reasons, not least of which is that both Ted Turner and Professor Percival Everett are significant characters and both are bubble heads! 😊
SCORE! Worked the book sale at the library and managed to only bring home 2 books! And Percival‼️ Squeeee
Bought a new bookshelf. Ten bucks at a yard sale!
This quote is so me that it borders on scary. 😂📚😂(photo found on FB)
