Mehso-so

This book wasn't for me. Having grown up in Africa I thought it might have been a bit of a nostalgic read. It wasn't so. It felt clear all the way through that it was written by a white male - nothing wrong with that but it wasn't a voice I identified with or wanted to hear from. Reminded me of some of the worst bits of the expatriate lifestyle and felt a bit 'ick'. It's very possible that the reader had much to do with this.

Walking through my neighbourhood and a man cleaning out his house asked if I wanted any of the books he'd packed in a cardboard box. My response? Hell yeah! Was already carrying bags of groceries, otherwise I would've taken more!
