I was really looking forward to this book as I do enjoy a bit of workplace voyeurism. It addresses the important issue of bullying and harassment of young doctors, as well as the unrealistic and unrelenting work conditions they are expected to endure. The main character came across as immature and a tad whiny. But redeemed herself toward the end. An insightful look into the real world of hospital medicine and the real people holding it all up.

I love a comedy writer. This gave me so many laughs! Jumped around a bit and repeated a few stories but overall was sad and funny at the same time.

The story of a woman who survives 'the sickness' and is alone until she meets another. Beautifully written. I enjoyed reading the character perspectives and how differently they viewed their own side of the relationship. I felt the story lacked something. Excitement perhaps? There was so much that could've been done with the post apocalyptic scenario but wasn't.

I won't be joining the fan club anytime soon. Rolled my eyes far too many times during this.

Sad and funny. This was short but not particularly quick to read. I enjoyed the writing style.

I couldn't get into this. Hard to explain why. Maybe the voice of each character was too similar? It was well written and I wanted to like it but couldn't. I bailed. 😔

A brilliant and accurate description of boys growing up in suburban Australia. There was some humour, some suspense but ultimately I didn't enjoy the ending. The reader was fantastic though.

I found this very hard going at times. She almost has too much compassion for her circumstance and it's hard to come to terms with. An amazing story of self-reliance, resilience and strength.

This book wasn't for me. Having grown up in Africa I thought it might have been a bit of a nostalgic read. It wasn't so. It felt clear all the way through that it was written by a white male - nothing wrong with that but it wasn't a voice I identified with or wanted to hear from. Reminded me of some of the worst bits of the expatriate lifestyle and felt a bit 'ick'. It's very possible that the reader had much to do with this.

I don't always enjoy long descriptions of nature but this book balances it perfectly with the story. It's beautifully written. I loved the ending also.

I absolutely LOVE this book for children and adults. A lesson in embracing all of the emotions we experience daily.

Long winded with one-dimensional characters and unrealistic dialogue. It felt like it was written for the author to show off her knowledge of Tasmanian topography and ecological matters. A struggle to finish.

Fascinating and gripping. I felt terrified throughout but wasn't sure from what. Can't wait for the movie to come out.

Well written and a great reflection on cultural issues and cycles of poverty and violence but the story line was rather bleak.

Possibly because I knew it was a movie I expected great things from this book but didn't love it all that much. Will be interesting to see the film as others have recommended it.

This book surprised me. It felt like it wasn't really going to go anywhere at times but had a few interesting twists. A reflection on human weakness and the destruction people can bring to one another.
