Faithfull: An Autobiography | Marianne Faithfull
1 post | 3 read | 3 to read
From pop stardom through the depths of addiction to her punk-rock comeback, Marianne Faithfull's life captures rock 'n' roll at its most decadent and its most destructive. Faithfull's first hit, 1964's "As Tears Go By," opened doors to the hippest circles in London. There she frolicked with the most luminous of the young, rich, and reckless, including Bob Dylan, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones. Her legendary affair with Mick Jagger produced one hit single, "Sister Morphine," and countless headlines. Faithfull left the relationship a strung-out junkie. Struggling to kick drugs and revive her musical career, she recorded Broken English in 1979, an edgy, hard-hitting, critical triumph. As honest in her autobiography as in her music, Faithfull is a searing, intimate portrait of a woman who examines her adventures and misadventures without flinching, without apology.

Another book I managed to read recently was this beauty. This is not a book for everyone, Marianne isn‘t always nice but she mostly doesn‘t care what you think about her. I personally love her snark and insane memories. I laughed out loud at several parts and if you want the classic rock and roll badly behaved memoir from the woman‘s point of view I would recommend this.

Weaponxgirl She also ends this book with a recipe for roast chicken because you should in her words learn something useful from every book you read! 😆 5mo
batsy I love that bit about including a roast chicken recipe 😁 5mo
Weaponxgirl @batsy she‘s a bit eccentric and when she hit me with that I just laughed so much. She‘s the sort of person who is amazing to read about but you probably didn‘t want to be around her as I‘m not that wild. 5mo
UwannaPublishme How cool is she! 😁 5mo
