Leonardo and the Last Supper
Leonardo and the Last Supper | Ross King
6 posts | 6 read | 11 to read
For more than five centuries The Last Supper has been an artistic, religious and cultural icon. The art historian Kenneth Clark called it 'the keystone of European art', and for a century after its creation it was regarded as nothing less than a miraculous image. And yet there is a very human story behind this artistic 'miracle'. Ross King's Leonardo and the Last Supper is both a 'biography' of one of the most famous works of art ever painted and a record of Leonardo da Vinci's last five years in Milan.

4 more replacements for the #LeftHanders Display! 😁

This one takes some extra digging, since apparently there‘s quite a bit of false info out there on this subject. 🤷🏼‍♂️ These all seem legitimate though after some scouring.

Have you read any of these?!

#DinnerAndABook - but hopefully not actually the last supper! 😂 Blackened cod with garlic aioli and corn salsa, a delicious meal for a sultry summer night! Paired with a refreshing Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey cocktail. 😋

Mehso-so

This was really scattered - King would talk about a particular thing multiple times across multiple chapters in a way that was confusing for me. Some chapters were more interesting than others, as expected, but some were incredibly dry and seemed to have little to do with the topic at hand.

A day late with my #FebruaryTBR.. An extra book from Jan that‘s in-progress, two paper and two Scribd pre-2018 TBRs in an effort to #readmyowndamnbooks, my GBC Book Club book and my #mummydaughterbookclub book, along with an in-progress audio from Scribd. Totally doable.

Absolutely loved this book! So well written and full of amazing details regarding everything from the military and political atmosphere surrounding Leonardo at this time to the exact hand gestures of each apostle. Fantastic read and so full of history and rich detail about one of Leonardo's masterpieces.
