I always love stocking up on my history books while in England. I have already bought so many books in Greece and Ireland though, so I‘m a bit worried about my suitcase load...

Bookzombie Uh oh! Maybe you have some clothes to donate and make room? 😉 5d
sparrowssavvy @Bookzombie I also went to the Harry Potter studio tour, and more bookshops and I still have a week left... it‘s a bit scary thinking about fitting everything in my suitcase 3d

The story was interesting but this wasn‘t quite what I was expecting. It definitely had a lot of philosophical musings throughout. The writing was quite lyrical and certain sentences were just so beautiful. I would have liked more of the actual plot and story however.

I utterly LOVED this book. It was the perfect continuation from the incredible first book. This unique world is so fascinating and I just adore the whimsical writing and characters. It has such an epic build up and the pacing just flows, even though it is completely action packed! I am so antsy to get my hands on the third book once it is translated!

DuckOfDoom Oh I saw this so often at my bookshop. I think I will buy the translated German version of the first book when I next visit, I heard many good things about it 1mo
sparrowssavvy @DuckOfDoom I highly recommend this series! I‘m so eager to read the next two, I‘m debating buying the original French versions and attempting to muddle through 1mo

I definitely thought this was going to be more fantasy based but I was so pleasantly surprised with this book. It had a Cruel Intentions feel and rich, vibrant characters. I got quite caught up in all the drama and the romance. The ending was extremely satisfying and I definitely will be rereading this in the future.

I couldn‘t find the exact book on here, but I did find this book so fascinating. Written in the 1920‘s, it was so interesting to read from the perspective of someone uncovering the mysteries of the tombs as they were being excavated. The topic itself was so intriguing and I really enjoyed this

This book took me a while to finish. I honestly was expecting something different and I normally am not interested in something so Gossip Girl-esque. That said, I did enjoy this book and the idea of a massive tower city was quite interesting. There was a bit too much drama for my liking but for what it was, it was well written.

I thought this was such a fun concept- Tudor history combined with fantasy. As a major history buff and a fantasy fan, this book was just a load of fun. I had trouble putting it down, and enjoyed the quirky writing and fun scenarios. The characters were lively and full of personality. I‘m for sure going to be checking out the next book!

While I did love the first book more, this was a solid follow up book and continued on the charming and witty adventures of Jackaby and Abigail. I found I had figured out most of the story partway through. I am curious to see where the next two go though.

I am always nervous when I read the sequel to an amazing book. The first book in this series was so much fun and I absolutely loved it. Moon Over Soho was an awesome follow up, and continued building this great world. The witticisms in the writing are just fantastic. The continued character development is wonderful. I can‘t recommend this series enough! It‘s like a British Dresden Files.

I literally could not stop reading this book! It was fantastic! A retelling of the twelve dancing princesses in a lush fantasy world full of gods and magic! I want to know more about this incredible place! The characters were so unique and full of life. I also loved that this tale had an element of mystery to it, even though it became apparent towards the end what the resolution was. And I truly loved the gothic and ghostly ambience that ensued.

I completely admit to buying this for the cover. Anything piratey gets me. This really wasn‘t what I was expecting from this book, but it was enjoyable. I enjoyed the nods to Roman society and culture. However there was so much more to be explored about this world and it‘s mythology. I feel like it could have been a much more intense and amazing book. But still a good read.

A very fun and enjoyable book. I was curious where the author was planning to go with this one as I felt the first novel was quite complete by itself. However I felt this was a plausible story and didn‘t feel tacked on to the original. It was fast paced and had great visuals, which really enhanced the tale. Still not sure where the author goes with the third, but I‘ll be getting into that soon.

This book was so informative and a great read! I especially loved the history at the beginning and wished that section had been longer. However, the modern environmental section was so interesting and something I feel everyone should have to read. I learned so much about the impact we humans have on our environments and ways we can reverse those negative effects. Will definitely look for more by this author!

I honestly was expecting something grander and more gothic with some mystery or even supernatural elements. While I did enjoy this book and some characters were quite unique and enjoyable, it really could have been taken in quite a different direction. It focused more on the relationships between the characters and personal development than anything really to do with a more developed plot. I still did enjoy it though.

This retelling of Snow White was a sweet tale and a very typical PG YA novel. I would have liked more grit and depth to it, but as it was, it was just very sweet. I felt like there was a lot more that could have been done with the story as it was a great bare bones story. It had elements that reminded me of the Snow White and the Huntsman movie, which I utterly love. That said, it was still a fun read and a great retelling of a fairy tale.
