This was cute and sweet. I feel like this was literally a movie screenplay for something I‘ve seen in multiple incarnations. It was heartwarming at times and wrapped up neatly in a bow at the end. I wouldn‘t necessarily say it was deep and thought provoking, but it was just enjoyable and a fun read.

Finished up this amazing read. This book was everything I wanted the tv show Salem to be. I loved the eerie ambience. I originally thought that this was historical fiction, but loved the originality of recreating similar religions and cultures. I found this book kept building and building and really nailed the ending. It unfolded in a great manner and the pacing really worked.

This was a great standalone fantasy novel. For a debut book, it was fun, well developed and had great pacing. I was looking for something distracting and engaging, which this totally was.

I loved the setting of Prague, which really came to life for me. I wanted more background on the vampires and other mythical creatures. I‘d be interested in a sequel that explores that more.

The cover was delightfully charming and the story sounded whimsical. It was both those things and more. I was expecting a more adult tale, but I found it was delightfully charming and very reminiscent of the Mysterious Benedict Society in its quirky and unique tone. It was diverting, and while slightly predictable, the charm of this world and its wonderful cast of characters really came to life.

Normally I find books have a slow middle or pacing issues. For this book, ironically, I found the beginning was the weakest part. It didn‘t catch me right away, but I‘m glad I persevered because it was an awesome read.

This was like a delightfully quirky horror movie. The setting was so fun and I could really visualize everything that was going on. Honestly this would make an awesome movie.

This book has so much hype going in. Overall it was a great story, so I really enjoyed that. However I think it could have been better written. I felt more subtlety and layering would have really made this book into something remarkable. That said, it was enjoyable but I felt it could have been better.

I was really in the mood for a mystery thriller and this completely satisfied me. It truly was a nonstop ride, with some beautiful sentimental moments.

I love when books get me thinking for days after I read them. This one truly questions the relationship between grown children and their parents. I love that it made me think and completely surprised me with some twists.

This book was really captivating. I was expecting more of a thriller or mystery, whereas this was just a dramatic study of some truly terrible people. I couldn‘t put it down. Seeing the various events of the lives of these brothers from each of their three perspectives was so interesting. You definitely will not like any character in this! And I was so into the fact that they were all horrible in their own way.

I have been so excited to read this book and was so ready for my preorder to come in. I could go on for hours about how much I loved this book.

This book was everything I wanted it to be. So dark and rich, with an epic world that gave me some serious Bloodborne vibes (which I deeply adore). The cast of characters was so varied and so full of life, and they were so fleshed out.

There were some truly beautiful and gorgeously written moments.

I keep seeing this book all over Instagram. I can definitely see why after reading it. I read this in an afternoon and literally couldn‘t put it down. It was just so much fun, completely sucked me in and was really intriguing. There was so much I liked about this book. Truly hit the hype for me. Also that ending!

This book was just so beautiful! It combined so many fantastic elements together and they all worked almost seamlessly. The multiple storylines never got confusing and wove together beautifully. Even the multiple versions of each character was written so well. I would have loved some more exploration of the magic mythos in this world. But leaving it as it is really kept a slightly mysterious air, which also really worked.

Been so excited to read this one, and it did not disappoint! The writing perfectly captured the 90‘s and I got so much nostalgia from this book. I also love a classic vampire tale, and this one totally did it for me. The characters were fantastic and just so much fun! Everything about this was awesome!

I haven‘t read any Tudor historical fiction in a while, although I read so much over the years, so it‘s sometimes hard to find new books, so I was delighted to find this one. This one gave me some Six: The Musical vibes. Great individual narrations that really captured each queen uniquely. It was also interesting comparing their impressions of each other. I especially enjoyed Henry VIII‘s bits of inner monologue thrown in there.

So glad I could finally get my hands on this book. I loved the mix of mystery, thriller and almost horror. The urban legend aspect was awesome and really added some creepy vibes to the whole story. Personally I would have loved some more atmospheric horror added in. I‘m definitely going to check out the first book by this author.

For first 200 pages, I was utterly hooked and so into this book! It was an amazing introduction with an awesome premise and great pacing and action. Lots of wit and some great first person narration. Definitely a slow down by the middle though, which I slogged through a bit slower than I intended to. Not sure if I will do the second book or not.

While I loved the concept of a retelling of The Turn of the Screw as a mystery, there was something missing from this for me. The unique format of this as a letter was super cool. The twists were quite good as well, especially the ending, which I thought was a really solid conclusion and one I didn‘t see coming. I plowed through the first half and then kind of stuttered through for the last half.

While generally a good read, I felt this book could have been great. The protagonist definitely annoyed me at times, and someone had an irritating air of entitlement.

The general plot and mystery was solid but I wanted more about the sirens and about their background. I felt like there was an awesome created that could have been expanded and made into something more.

This was a fun read. I like I haven‘t read anything quite like this, so that was really enjoyable. I would have liked more clarity on the actual mythology, I felt that part was a bit vague. However, the book was action packed and had some great pacing, so I never really felt a lull.

Personally I would have liked a bit more horror in there. It felt almost more like an action adventure. Solid, fun read overall, but didn‘t wow me.

This was a really solid finish to the first three books. The pacing was consistent throughout and it built really well until the climax. I really was intrigued by the mythology of this universe. I just want to delve more deeply into that! This definitely continued on the hype that this series gets. It was super fun to read and was hard to put down. It even got me teary once or twice which really doesn‘t happen all that often.

The more I read of this series, the more I love it. When I originally picked this series up, I was expecting more of a traditional type of fantasy. I absolutely love the take this author took on fantasy and combined modern life and culture with the mythology. The themes of coming of age and finding your identity are so well done and very relatable. The writing is very modern to me and it‘s just like a slice of life with fantasy elements thrown in

I stand by my earlier statement that this series is like crack. I loved the development and progress in this book, it really paved its own way from the first book. I love the overarching story that really came to play in this book. I‘m definitely loving the world building and mythology.

The relationships and character dynamics were a delight to read. So well written and so intriguing.

The best thing about this book for me was the unease. The author did a great job of making me uneasy from ten pages in. I was expecting something supernatural, but still thought it was a captivating read. Powered through it in a day. I noticed it got a lot of varying reviews, which I‘m definitely interested in reading now that I‘ve read the book. Solid author debut in my opinion.

This is my second read of this book and it was just as amazing as the first time. To me, this is a perfect summer read! So well written and flushed out, it is like an action thriller movie. The characters are really well created and individual. I could rave about this book for days to be honest!

I absolutely adore this series. It has so many elements I adore. A super sassy and capable heroine who lives life fully, amazing dialogue full of cute quips and witty repartee, historical setting, fun mysteries and great pacing. This one might be my favourite so far actually!

This book had a lot of wins for me. Mermaids, centuries old curse, multiple storylines, even some beautiful illustrations.

Personally I would have loved if this was about a hundred pages longer and a bit more flushed out. That said, it was still an amazing read. It was quite lovely with the writing and had some beautiful moments.

After the disappointment of my last mystery, this one was a great comeback. Sucked me in, with some awesome writing. There were some great emotional passages which were beautifully written. The story was awesome and well paced. I definitely want to read more by this author.

So I have been dying to read The Companion by this author so I figured I try another by her. This was quite YA but definitely a fun cottage read. It was cute and quick. Not sure if I‘ll try the other one. Definitely cute and fluffy though.

So I bought this years ago and figured I‘d wait until there were more books before diving in. I definitely get the hype now. I really feel a beauty and the beast vibe from this one and I‘m loving it. That vibe is completely thrown out the window in the last hundred pages though.

I am already deep into the second book. This series is like crack.

Another fantastic book by Lisa Jewell. I‘m trying to save some so I don‘t run out of books by her to read, but after seeing she has a new one coming, I immediately delved into this one.

Amazing story that completely sucked me in. I could kind of see the ending coming, but it was so satisfying. Her characters are always so well written and so realistic.

I am honestly so bummed that this series is only a trilogy. I felt like I could so many more books in this series. That said, it was a pretty solid final book. I definitely preferred the first two. It could have been that I was trying to read this while moving so it was a stop and start read for me, but it didn‘t suck me in like the first two quite as much.

An enjoyable read. I got some definite Kate Morton vibes from this. I felt if there was another 200 pages and the story was more flushed out, this would have been stellar. For a debut novel, however, it was quite good.

Another awesome Lisa Jewell!! Can‘t get enough of this author. This one was a bit reminiscent of her books The Family Upstairs and The Making of Us, even though this one was written first.

Definitely a beautiful read that really highlights the importance of the relationship between parents and their children. There were some heartbreaking moments and some beautiful character building.

I just flew through this book. It was kind of haunting and creepy and had a bit of a Lovecraft feel to it. The ambience was so well done, and I actually felt really tense reading certain passages. There was great build and I was so curious to see where it went. The imagery that the writing evoked was totally vivid for me, and I definitely want to check out the other horror novel by this author.

Heard a lot of hype about this book. I wasn‘t sure what to expect but it was such a delightful, charming and wholesome read. It reminded me of Lemony Snicket meets the Doldrums. The characters were sweet and charming. While I did find parts predictable, I didn‘t mind at all because it was just so cute and fun to read.

This was a fantastic book. So well written and researched, it is exactly what I look for in a history book. It was an amazing portrait of some amazing women and their societal roles.
Considering how many centuries and various rulers the author covered, she made it as concise as possible. I also loved how she presented things with as little bias as possible, showing the differing views on each dynamic lady.

I am slowly working my way through all of Stephen King‘s writing. While I definitely prefer other books by him, this was still pretty good. It felt like it was a four act play to me. The pacing wasn‘t bad, but it was more four different segments than one major storyline.

There is something about Stephen King‘s writing that just sucks me in. I love his random characters that he brings to life, even if it is just for one small scene.

It took me a wee bit to get into this one. After about thirty pages, I was really in it. I loved the concept of the Trojan war told through the varying views of so many different female characters. There were so many interweaving characters and their connectivity was fantastic. I enjoyed how this book took place throughout the war, prior to the war, and the fallout. It had a great scope and range of characters. Odysseus was damn annoying though 😂

So this was an odd read for me. I was totally absorbed in this for the first hundred pages. However, I had trouble focusing and connecting for the next two hundred pages. I think it‘s because we were trying to bid on a house and I was just so distracted. I got more into it again for the final hundred pages though. So I don‘t think this book had a fair shot with me. The concept was great. I love how Finnish mythology played a role too.

This book was truly delightful! Absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Delightful British murder mystery but with some sleuths from a high end seniors home. Every character was totally unique, believable and just so fun.

The plot was well put together, so well paced and just flowed. I didn‘t see the ending and resolutions coming about the way they did. I love being surprised and this book surprised me in multiple ways.

I am major fan of Lisa Jewell and each of her books does it for me. This was definitely a more gothic tale than some of her others. I couldn‘t put this down. The story was addictive and so interesting. Told from multiple viewpoints, it was super well rounded. Her characters are fascinating and while this wasn‘t a true mystery, I couldn‘t stop reading. I also wasn‘t expecting the whole “cult” angle which was a great surprise

I loved the concept. I really enjoy Greek mythology inspired books like this one. The entire plot was really well executed and tightly put together. I didn‘t find I lagged at all while reading either, so it was really well paced for me. Character wise, I really liked all the characters and found the protagonist super relatable, which I wasn‘t expecting. Although Athena really was an amazing character

Marina Fiorato really kills it with her historical fiction. I think this is the fourth one I have read by her and it‘s awesome.

This one had a more Da Vinci code feel to it then her others. While mostly believable, there were moments where it felt a bit far fetched.

The narrator was an amazing character. Her tone and viewpoints were quite funny and refreshing. I truly enjoyed her voice.

I was so excited to try this series and it did not disappoint. I love the concept of the universe created and this reminded me of the Parasol Protectorate meets Chronicles of St. Mary‘s, both of which I love!

The characters were quite fun and unique. The characters that were trope characters weren‘t taken too seriously which I appreciated. The protagonist had some delightful inner thoughts and asides, which is always great.

This was a retelling of the Trojan war through the eyes of Briseis and the captive Trojan women. It was thought provoking and really presented a completely different angle on such a big historical event.

It really delved into topics about the historical roles of women, female identity and the trials of war. Beautifully written and easy to slide into, a wonderful read!

This ending book did not do it for me. I have absolutely adored this series and this was something I‘be been looking forward to reading for a while. It definitely slowed down my reading this week as I just kept putting this book down. The third book in this series was amazing so this really felt disappointing to me. There were parts that felt unnecessary and lagging. While it did provide a lovely portrait of rural America, it did nothing for me.

While I was expecting the fantasy and mythical themes to be more prevalent in this book, it was a great read. The writing was fun and it was very easy to settle in to.

There were times I forgot there was an underlying fantasy element and I felt it was just a coming of age character story. I‘m curious to see where the next book goes.

This book was incredible! I kept seeing so much hype, and it totally lived up to it.
The world building was incredible with a well thought out history. Every character just came to life and really developed throughout this epic tale. The world truly came alive for me. The author did such a good job utilizing all the great locations she created, and the pacing was excellent. Everything just came together so well.
