I didn‘t like it from the very beginning. I didn‘t recognise either Theo nor that whiner aunt Marthe. They both put me off. Next thing feeling implausible were all those activities Theo had. As a student of human medicine❓🤣 Lmao. Then came that thin frame story. 🙄 And then came the discussions supposed to present the main topics pollutions and climate change. They were so boring, so overly didactic and not a bit interesting.

👉🏼 I quit.

Picking this back up again. Reluctantly, I admit, I am not very far in but I‘m already having some issues. Theo, the protagonist, is supposed to be 25 but what he tells about his relationships to women and about his studies of human medicine and his plans and projects for work for me absolutely don‘t fit to being 25. He is far too grown-up, 30 would suit all those attitudes better. Additionally, I‘m wondering, where he‘s got all that money from.

??„(Meine Tante liegt) In der Abteilung für Lungenkrankheiten! Alle Viren dieser Erde treffen sich in den Lungen.“ (Seite 21)

?? “(My aunt is lying) In the department of lung diseases! All the viruses of this earth meet up in the lungs.” (p. 21)

⬆️⬆️⬆️ Uhm, well, this book was published in 2004. Any questions❓

annamatopoetry I mean it's kind of true. Diseases mainly become a big deal of they affect the lungs, the central nervous system, or the immune defence. anything else, we can usually deal with. 4y

At first, I was a bit disappointed that this second one doesn‘t carry on with the theme but introduces a new one:

Environment.

But don‘t we all develop personally❓😉
Meanwhile, I‘m looking forward to meeting with the old protagonist again to see how his personality developed since his first voyage.

Littens, can you believe⁉️ 😯
The first time in approximately 2 weeks that I have leisure time. Time, I can spend however I want, no bum fodder staring at me with blame.

The tagged book is kind of a sequel. The first one was a birthday present by my parents about 20 years ago. A novel about the world‘s various religions. Since I found out there‘s another book, I wanted to read it.
