He Knew He was Right | Anthony Trollope

The titular "he" in He Knew He Was Right is my #aprilbookshowers pick for unlikeable character. I got such a bad headache reading this book that I gave up 1/4 of the way through. Even Trollope didn't like him!

rabbitprincess @EvieBee84 The miniseries was a much more bearable way to get the story. In the book there's a part where he tells his wife "I don't suspect you as yet of any wrongdoing" and it's like "Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence, asshole." And never mind that he can support himself -- she is cast out of the house and is dependent on others, but HE'S the one who's suffering?! ? 7y
