Assigned reading from the kiddo, this was a quick read. Beginning of a MG series (a step beyond chapter books) showing the Olympians as 10-year-olds. In this installment Zeus, who knows nothing of his parentage, finds his thunderbolt and frees his siblings from Cronus‘ belly. He doesn‘t know who they are yet, and it ends as he, Hera, and Poseidon embark on their next adventure.

It‘s ok, not great, and the illustrations don‘t align with the text.

Clare-Dragonfly Wow, that‘s annoying. I‘m used to covers not quite depicting what‘s in the text, but not illustrations! 4y
ravenlee @Clare-Dragonfly it‘s so annoying! Like, the text says something about Cronus‘ tunic having buttons, and the picture on the next page has him bare-chested. I‘m not being nit-picky; these are big things that got screwed up. 4y

I think that this book is great for young children but particularly boys who enjoy fighting and the gods. It tells the making of zeus and his thunderbolts.

Modern fantasy and was written in 2012. This book is about about zeus when he was only a ten year old. It begins with zeus trying to stop the titans who have been killing humans and destroying the world. It shows how it develops his weapon, the thunderbolt, to destroy the titans.
