This book was far too sociological for me. The author did a lot of interviews and research about women in comedy, and I did learn more about that subject. She lost me when she started getting into feminism. I am female and was around when Gloria Steinem started her protests. I respect that. I know women are always treated as second class. I didn‘t enjoy this book, it was too strident.

For multiple reasons and circumstances, I only read four books this month. But the ones that I did read were helpful in distracting me from life and current events out of my control. Hopefully September will be a better month, both for reading and my mental health. 🤞

I'm still fairly new to #Litsy but I definitely feel at home with everyone here. Thank you all for your love and support, especially during #Harvey. We will get through this! ❤

aurora.dawn @mom2bugnbee I am in Texas, but everything is okay where I am. My best friend's apartment had minor flooding, but all of my family and loved ones in TX are okay. Thank you! ❤ 7y

#TBRtemptation post 1! Just released. From "I Love Lucy" to "Saturday Night Live", this book is an in-depth exploration of how comedy and feminism grew hand-in-hand in giving women a stronger voice. Personal narratives are entwined with the contexts of the time. Actresses, comics, writers, even female troupes, are interviewed to discuss women in comedy over the decades. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?
