Bailedbailed

16% in and this simply isn't for me. I always appreciate trying new authors for #Authoramonth, but she won't be added to my list. On to February! ☺ @Soubhiville

Soubhiville It‘s ok! She‘s not for everyone. Don‘t forget bails count towards the Every Month Club. 🙂 3w
mom2bugnbee @Soubhiville Oh, thank you! 3w
Bklover Oh, I can‘t tell you how happy you just made me! I have read the first 20 pages of Tracks for #aam about three times and I keep realizing that I‘m planning my dinner or thinking about money or what I want to eat right now or loving on my dogs or just about anything but the book and I have no idea what I read. And of course I think it has 100%positive reviews so I feel like a failure at life altogether. I may be exaggerating a bit, 🥴🙄😊 3w
Bklover Oh, and it‘s the first month of the year! But now there‘s two of us so it‘s OKAY!!👏👏👍👍 3w

McKay's | Chattanooga, TN (Bookstore)

My family's trip to McKay's (we actually visited the Nashville location, but it wasn't in the database) was incredibly successful, as we had $185 in credit after trading in books! Had to laugh at the "subgenre" labels in the romance section! ?

AlaMich That‘s pretty funny! I never thought of “small town men” being a romance sub genre. 4w
AlaMich omg, I just noticed the shelf labeled “men who lost their shirts”!! 🤣 4w
Clwojick 😂😂😂 4w
mom2bugnbee @AlaMich "Men Who Lost Their Shirts" is what made me lose it. They also have "Bikers". Obviously tongue in cheek, but very funny! They reposted my IG story, saying "definitely our best shelf labels yet". ? 4w
Amiable I love bookstores with a sense of humor about labeling shelves. My local used bookstore does this. My favorite shelf is the one in the history section: “Dudes with Short-Man Syndrome.” That‘s where you‘ll find the biographies of Napoleon, Stalin and Mussolini. 😄 (edited) 3w

For any Littens interested, these sold out quickly a few weeks ago, so this next batch will likely sell quickly as well. I just purchased this for my 20yo - this is one of her all-time favorites. Signed with a personal inscription by Ben Saenz, & it's not any more expensive than a typical hardcover book.

Happy New Year! | Greg Roza

Not my best reading year - life was just busy. Good news is that I didn't read many bad books, evident by the fact that I bailed on only one. (I'm not shy to bail on books.) I had six five-star books (I'm stingy with my stars) and a whole lot of four-star. Looking forward to starting fresh tomorrow & being more active on Litsy in 2023!

britt_brooke Nicely done, my friend! 1mo

mom2bugnbee @Amiable To be fair, three of them were three of the four in the Track series by Jason Reynolds, which are middle grade books. I adored that series so much & they just kept getting better. 1mo
Amiable @mom2bugnbee Valid scoring—one of my very few 5-star reads in 2021 was a Jason Reynolds book! His books are phenomenal. 1mo

Hey there, Littens! My reading life was WAY down during the second half of the year, & I was terrible about posting on Litsy. 😔 Determined to be back in force in 2023!

So thankful to have gotten over my reading slump. Now I need to get back into the habit of posting! Since my last post, I went on a romance semi-binge.

My August reading:

Stuck with You, Below Zero, & Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood
The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green 🎧
Finding Me by Viola Davis 🎧
The Duke & I by Julia Quinn
The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager

Snuck this picture of my 19yo reading The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time. Notice her tools for annotating. Color-coded post-it flags & pens for things like favorite quotes, character development moments, important plot points, etc. Anyone else read like this? She doesn't do this for every book, but she does for most of the classics that she reads. ♥

*sigh* Unpopular opinion coming. I didn't love this like I wanted to. I'm not against reading difficult memoirs - I've read many that I've given higher star ratings. This just wasn't for me.
