Deep in the countryside, ghost hunter David Ash is investigating a mysterious, secluded stately home. Reports from locals regarding strange goings-on make him think the house is haunted... But not even David Ash's long professional history of warding off evil spirits can prepare him for the shocking discovery that awaits. International bestselling horror writer James Herbert weaves a terrifying narrative featuring his best-loved character, David Ash, the skeptical detective of the paranormal introduced in the UK number one bestsellers, Haunted and The Ghosts of Sleath. Prepare to be chilled to the marrow... At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

Third in David Ash series. Meh. For a book about a paranormal investigator, it had very little about paranormal investigating. Lots of gore, very few ghosts and I wanted ghosts. It was overly long as well. I just couldn't like this one like I wanted to.

He uses the word frisson twice. Were it not a library book I would‘ve thrown the book across the room for this very reason. This is about a haunted castle filled with mostly terrible people. I‘m not sure how we are supposed to feel after it‘s done. I‘m pretty sure they all deserve to die

This took a while to read this one. This is not as good as his others and as his last book I wonder if the full editing process was completed by the author. This book would definitely benefited from some 200 words being editors out. All together the story was more conspiracy theory than ghost story but an ok read.
