Leadership and Self-Deception
Leadership and Self-Deception: Getting Out of the Box | The Arbinger Institute
NEW EDITION, REVISED AND UPDATED Since its original publication in 2000, Leadership and Self-Deception has become a word-of-mouth phenomenon. Its sales continue to increase year after year, and the books popularity has gone global, with editions now available in over twenty languages. Through a story everyone can relate to about a man facing challenges on the job and in his family, the authors expose the fascinating ways that we can blind ourselves to our true motivations and unwittingly sabotage the effectiveness of our own efforts to achieve success and increase happiness. This new edition has been revised throughout to make the story even more compelling. And drawing on the extensive correspondence the authors have received over the years, they have added a section that outlines the many ways that readers have been using Leadership and Self-Deception to improve their lives and workplacesareas such as team building, conflict resolution, and personal growth and development, to name a few. Read this extraordinary book and discover what millions already have learnedhow to consistently tap into an innate ability that dramatically improves both your results and your relationships.

We carry these self-justifying images with us into new situations... We don‘t see people straightforwardly, as people. Rather we see them in terms of the self-justifying images we‘ve created. If people act in ways that challenge the claim made by a self-justifying image, we see them as threats. If they reinforce the claim... we see them allies. If they fail to matter... we see them as unimportant. ... We‘re already in the box.

Honing my craft. Leadership development is something I hold dear. I love the outward mindset training programs. I‘m looking forward to going through this book.

I started a new job and within a week they asked everyone in the company to read this book. I finished it quickly and actually really enjoyed it. I'm not big on self-help books but this one got me thinking.. I wasn't enjoying the new job but I had to wonder if I was thinking in the box or out.. #selfhelp #motivation #outofthebox

I DID NOT want to read this book. As an assignment for work, I did. About 25% through I found myself applying this book to my life. Looking at how I treat others and what I am really doing when I decide to not be helpful or decide that another should do something because I think they're lazy and they need to get busy. I am trying to remind myself of the lessons learned in this book. There is really no way to explain it well, read it, its worth it.
