Did a reading crawl with my book bestie today… a great way to spend a Saturday!!

Aims42 My BFF and I are going to try doing one for the first time next Saturday 😍 Any tips? We‘re going to 3 places and thinking of reading for 45 mins at each? 4d
Kshakal @Aims42 awesome!! Sounds like you got it… we usually do between 45 minutes to an hour at each place and we usually do 3 places! 4d
Aims42 @Kshakal Oh yay!! My friend saw someone on Instagram doing one and they read 100 pages at each place 😳 We tweaked it for the 45 mins because 100 pages would take forever for us 🤣 4d

Good messages to help professionals, parents, teachers and kids not get stuck in positive or negative mindsets, either of which can cause people to be stuck and stagnant in life.

David‘s story was really inspiring to me. I have been through a lot but he taught me a thing or two on how to defy the odds!

I finished this one a few days ago. I enjoyed the scaffolding techniques to unlock our hidden potential (and that of others), but I think I‘ll need to read the actual book to really absorb the info. There were chapters meant for parents, or those who work with/mentor young children, so if that‘s not you, it might not resonate. There were also topics for organizations/teams, which doesn‘t currently resonate with me. But overall a great listen.

I don‘t read self help books very often. I guess I find memoirs and novels more meaningful for life advice?

The tagged book is one I read a couple years ago as part of a summer book club. It was interesting enough but didn‘t really stick with me. In fact, upon consulting my reading journal, I see that some of his advice actually annoyed me. Example: Never ever quit. IMHO sometimes quitting is exactly what you need to do.

Kerrbearlib I agree. Sometimes quitting is what we need to do. I‘d love to find a good self-help book that helps people decide when to quit vs when to stick with something. 8mo
Karkar This helped me a lot. I was stressing way to much and it helped me to not give a f*ck all the time about things that did not even matter 8mo
BookmarkTavern Totally agree on quitting! It‘s not a weakness to admit when something is no longer working for you and walking away. Thanks for sharing! 8mo

This felt like a summary of a lot of books I've previously read.
There's a lot of useful information in bite size chunks you can use as needed for different areas of personal growth. But it doesn't do a deep dive into any one area. So if you know what you'd like to grow in I'd suggest finding a book that goes more in-depth.
