I'm finished. And I'm completely and utterly devastated. This was not a "bring along on your vacation" book, but it was amazing from beginning to end.
Also, when #michaelcunningham reviews the book and calls it a "heartbreaker," you really have no one to blame but yourself for your tears when you read it anyway lol.
"Another belief: if Anna died, Helen would die too. It was the twisted logic of superstition. She'd never been without Anna, thus she wouldn't exist if Anna didn't exist."
Excuse me while I go ugly cry into my coffee.
My best friend and I are choosing books that focus on female friendships to read together and discuss... "Before everything" is first, and then "invincible summer!"
So emotionally taxing that I had to hold back the whole time reading it... probably the same feeling Anna's friends had. 😔https://randombookmuses.com/2017/07/21/review-before-everything-by-victoria-redel/
🍭This book was sort of blah for me. The characters were completely disconnected to each other and the reader. I was shocked with the pettiness some of the characters showed. I mean, one of their best friends is dying and they are wondering why they are not liked by the other women in the group. Come on,what's important here! I made it through a quarter of the book before I decided it wasn't for me.
Umm, I'm already needing a kleenex here. Stacked!
