Just wondering what #lmpbc is all about, and how do I get involved? 📚😁💖

sprainedbrain Every 4 months, we sign up in groups of 4, and then each person in the group chooses a book to read, marking up as do so, and then sends to the other 3 in the group. At the end, you get your book back with notes from your group members. It‘s fun! Follow @suvata so you don‘t miss the next sign ups. 😃 2y

Got a few new books to listen to during late night breastfeeding sessions… any other suggestions are welcome!! “Elevation” is my first pick!

BookmarkTavern Cerulean Sea and Neverwhere are both fabulous options! What are you really interested in? I might have a couple recommendations! 2y
ItsAnotherJen For pure entertainment- Ready Player One or Project Hail Mary. Born A Crime was great on audio, interesting story and I loved his narration. Bossypants is very funny. Big Little Lies or The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty is like..soap opera-y type fun. The Stand by Stephen King on audio is excellent. 2y
Pemberley @ozma.of.oz I‘m interested in pretty much anything. I love fiction but I‘m not opposed to nonfiction or memoirs. The only thing I steer clear of is really gory stuff. Thank you!! @ItsAnotherJen thank you for your suggestions! I love Liane Moriarty, I‘ve read The Husband‘s Secret but not Big Little Lies. I‘ll definitely look these up! 2y
BookmarkTavern The full cast audiobooks of the Redwall series by Brian Jacques are delightful for some fantasy (22 books). The Rivers of London urban fantasy series (9 books so far) by Ben Aaronovitch has one of the best audiobook narrators I have ever listened to. The Wayward children series (7 so far) by Seanan McGuire are charming ya portal fantasy novellas! 2y

I‘ve been away for so long! I have enjoyed my self imposed ban from social media, but I‘m adding back some more bookish apps because I miss the community. Since then, I‘ve discovered Sonali Dev, who I‘ve decided I adore. I have a weakness for Jane Austen retellings. This one wasn‘t my favorite, but it was very well done and I really enjoyed it.

sprainedbrain Oh boy... how much time do you have? 😂 I‘ve listened to almost 300 books but some of my favorites: The Song of Achilles, The Highland Witch by Susan Fletcher, The Heart‘s Invisible Furies, The Library at Mount Char, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Shadow is the Wind (narrated by Jonathan Davis), the Passage series by Justin Cronin, Circe, all of Kate Morton‘s books, the Bill Hodges Trilogy by Stephen King, The Terror by Dan Simmons, Atonement...😃 5y

Thoughts on Alias Grace? No spoilers; just a general opinion! Starting it today. Margaret Atwood is amazing but always leaves me a little unsettled... which I‘m sure is her goal.

Kaye I really liked this book , probably because it‘s based on a true story. Excellent in my opinion. 5y

This book BROKE me. And I would do it again in an instant. I normally do not enjoy books that jump between points of view.... I‘m so glad I didn‘t let that deter me from reading this. One of the most inspiring and thoughtful books I‘ve read in a long time. Don‘t read it in public if you‘re not prepared for ugly crying.

So since my most recent promotion (general manager of my office, yay!!), I have ZERO TIME to read. Since its not something I'm willing to give up, I thought I'd give audio books a go. My library has a decent selection, and I had to invest in a CD player but I'm hoping listening while I'm cooking/cleaning/whatever will work out. 📚🤞

Lauren_reading I listen on my commute every day now, I‘m loving audiobooks! 7y
Pemberley @LaurenReads my best friend works an hour away from where he lives, I started getting audio books for him originally. But I live about 6 minutes away from my office.... that's just enough to make me mad lol!! I spend a lot of time cleaning and cooking when I'm off so hopefully I'll love them too!! 7y

"Women rarely make one big decision to leave the workforce. Instead they make a lot of small decisions along the way, making accommodations and sacrifices that they believe will be required to have a family. Of all the women women hold themselves back, perhaps the most pervasive is that they leave before they leave."

Gwendy's Button Box | Stephen King

Pickpick

It took me one and a half lunch breaks to finish this, and I loved it. It's not the straight terror you get sometimes with Stephen King, but the metaphors throughout the book are amazing and I loved the main character of Gwendy. King never fails to impress me, and I was thrilled with this novella.

Pickpick

I went with "pick" for this book because the writing was beautiful and I loved the characters. They were flawed and interesting and deeper than you'd expect in a book with so many main characters. That being said, I didn't care much at all for the ending. It just seemed strange and abrupt to me. Overall though , I really did enjoy the story. ?

quote

Her Fearful Symmetry | Audrey Niffenegger

"Martin smiled and swivelled to look at her. In the dim light of the computer screen he seemed otherworldly; Julia thought him beautiful, though she knew it was the beauty of damage."

This book is GORGEOUS. A bit depressing, as not a single good thing has really happened yet, but it's just so beautiful that I don't mind.

Kbounds Currently reading this and really enjoying it. The characters have so much depth! 7y
Pemberley @Kbounds agreed! Especially for there to be such a wide array of main characters; you feel connected to each and every one of them! 7y
