The author of Poachers and Hell at the Breech delivers a bawdy, inventive tale, set in Alabama in the early 1900s, that combines the gritty edge of Quentin Tarantino and the outrageous humor of Christopher Moore.

Mehso-so

This was a fair modern western novel. It tried too hard to shock the reader with its brutality and ridiculousness. Instead of pulling me in, I found myself avoiding this for days at a time. More than anything, this just made me want to read a better book from the genre.

Pickpick

Not for the faint of heart, but if you like your Southern Gothic thick with violence and atmosphere, this one's for you. I, for one, liked it.
