To escape execution for a crime she didnt commit, seventeen-year-old Sev is forced to run away from the only home shes ever known in this exciting start to a brand-new fantasy series from debut author Caitlin Sangster. Sev has been tattooed with the white stars of a criminal since she was eight. Thats the penalty for being the daughter of the woman who betrayed their entire nation. Now her mothers body is displayed above Traitors Arch, kept in a paralyzed half-sleep by the same plague that destroyed the rest of the world. And as further punishment, Sev must do hard labor to prove that shes more valuable alive than dead. When the government blames Sev for a horrific bombing, she must escape the city or face the chopping block. Unimaginable dangers lurk outside the city walls, and Sevs only hope of survival lies with the most unlikely personHowl, the chairmans son. Though he promises to lead her to safety, Howl has secrets, and Sev cant help but wonder if he knows more about her pastand her mothers crimesthan he lets on. But in a hostile world, trust is a luxury. Even when Sevs life and the lives of everyone she loves may hang in the balance.

I really liked this book. I didn‘t really expect to like it, especially after I realised it was Dystopian. Sevvy is a somewhat relatable character, but more importantly, she‘s well written and that what I loved about her. I can‘t say much without giving the story away, since it moves quickly.
My rating:🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉

I finished this book two days ago and I can‘t stop thinking about how good it was! The characters are funny and witty, yet realistic. The plot is creative and fun in its own twisted way. If you like dystopian novels, fantasy, Chinese culture, and some mystery - this is a good book to read! I wish I could read it again for the first time! I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 and I cant wait for the sequel!

I‘ve never actually had this problem before and I‘m pretty sure it‘s because I am relentless about bringing my book with me no matter the size. 😂

Do you leave your heavy current reads at home, or do you bring it anyway?

I usually bring it anyway!

kricheal I bring it anyway. 6y

MoniqueReads305 Depends on how big it is and how small my bag is. If it can fit in my bag then I bring it. If not it stays. 6y

Reason #43 why Book stores are a dangerous place for me to be. 🤪

Who else is in need of a “Book Buying Ban” Chaperone when they‘re in a bookstore? I know I am! 🙋🏻‍♀️

I took FOREVER to finish this, and it was soooo good. I‘m one of the few people in this world who like love triangles so I‘m really hoping that‘s where the second book will go 🤞🏽 #readathon

Ashley_Nicoletto I also like love triangles. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
