11 posts | 15 read | 1 reading | 5 to read
Romance novels don't get much better than Mallery's expert blend of emotional nuance, humor and superb storytelling. Booklist The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool's Gold romances invites you to visit Happily Inc., a wedding destination founded on a fairy tale! Sculptor Nick Mitchell grew up in a family of artists and learned from his volatile father that passion only leads to pain. As he waits on a new commission, he takes a day job as a humble carpenter at a theme wedding venue. The job has its perksmainly the venue's captivating owner, Pallas Saunders. Pallas adores Weddings in a Box. But if she can't turn the floundering business around, she'll have no choice but to cave to her domineering mother and work at the family's bank. Then when a desperate bride begs Pallas for something completely out of the box, her irresistible new hire inspires her. Nick knows she doesn't belong behind a desk, and she knows in her heart that he's rightwhere she really belongs is in his arms. Don't miss the next book in the Happily Inc. series, Second Chance Girl!

This was the first Susan Mallery I just found so-so. I just couldn't get past the characters being ho-hum and unlike Fools Gold, Happily Inc is a fun idea but I'm not quite sold on it yet. I will read others in this series though. I do enjoy her writing.

I LOVED this book.
I just discovered this series and devoured it. I really liked this as a set up to a new world. I especially like a series when my favorite isn‘t the first book. That means the author is invested in all the stories. This was probably my second favorite of the entire run to date.

If you‘ve read a fools gold novel this series is just a rebranding. Just change the city, the names. I am tempted to run it trough plagiarism detector to see how high a score it gets. (Can an author plagiarize their own work? This should be the next book club question. Or maybe ask Janet Daily?)I digress. This book is exactly as you would expect it to be 2-3 hours of escapism with no lingering after effects. Completely forgettable.

Friday night relaxation reading, ironically curled up between a pair of politely purring felis catus. Laughed out loud at the library joke...

I liked Nick‘s touchy family dynamics, especially because Mallery referenced Fool‘s Gold characters I was familiar with.

I was excited to start the Happily Inc series, a spin off series from the Fool's Gold series, and even more excited to see the Mitchell bros from Fool's Gold. Unfortunately, this book was not as good as her Fool's Gold book. The main character was bland and there was no tension between the love interests. But I haven't given up on Happily Inc yet and will read the second book.

Just delivered by USPS!
A new Susan Mallery series about to begin. I hope it's not too romance-y. I'll start as soon as I finish one of these others.
