Didn't finish a single book last month apart from one audiobook. Even Pride and Prejudice couldn't keep my attention. But I am hoping Maggie will come in and save the day

Hosted a Galentine's Brunch today for my 13 year old daughter, and gifted "Bad Girls Throughout History".
I have had the best birthday ever! Massage, facial and took myself to a fancy lunch! No kids, no husband. Just me, lobster mac n cheese, champagne, and my favorite book.
It's my birthday eve! Celebrating with my annual tradition of re reading my favorite book! And drinking wine, and eating chocolate.
Going into hour 5 of our wrestling tournament... Luke wants to be entertained in between matches, Addi just wants to read her book in peace. Well, as much peace as you can get during a wrestling tournament.
My newest addition to my PnP collection, number 44. My 13 yo daughter found this one and had her daddy order it for me as a "just because" gift. This might be my most adorable edition. ❤
#nonbookish But my team just won the superbowl!! 💛❤💛❤💛 Born and and raised in KC and first time in my lifetime! We are beyond excited!
Ooooohhhh this was soooooo good! Told in a documentary, interview style, I desperately wanted this to be a true story, because it felt so real. I kept trying to google image characters and then remembering it was fiction. The audiobook cast is wonderful, featuring Jennifer Beals, Benjamin Bratt and Judy Greer. All the stars for this gem!
💖💖💖💖 a romance with POC that wasn't trite, didn't make me mad or make me roll my eyes. An actual good representation of black women...Swoon.

Snowy day in KC! My plan was to take my Christmas tree down finally, but it's 4pm and I am just now getting out of bed. Just going to call today a wash!
I always fancied myself a Jo, but rereading as an adult and I think I am more Meg or Amy (or Hannah to be completely honest 😂)
And goal for 2020, to get a pretty copy
I love this series, so silly and irreverent, but also a bit creepy. And the netflix show is great. This was not my favorite version, I am not a huge fan of audiobooks with a full fast and sound effects. But rereading this did make me want to read it to my 7 year old, so it is on the short list for bedtime books
My favorite reads of 2019.
I read 130 books this year, 20 less than my 150 book goal, and did not finish any of my 3 challenges. I also ended the year in a huge slump and I haven't finished a book in weeks. So 2020, no book goal, no challenges. I am just going to read what makes me happy, what sounds good, read what I am in the mood for, with no pressure. I am looking forward to a great reading year!
Cheers to the New Year!
I have been MIA lately. Just not feeling quite myself. But these lovely bookmarks from @Faibka really cheered me up!
She actually sent them a few weeks ago and I am just now coming out of my fog to look at them. Thanks for the sweet gesture Fabi! 😘
What is America was a monarchy? This book imagines the Royal Family that could of been, The Washingtons.
This was trashy, tabloid-y, ridiculous and completely addicting. I can not wait to read book two and find out what happens with Princess Beatrice, Princess Samantha and Prince Jeff.
I want to love this series, and the first one wasn't bad, but I just cannot get into this second book.

Friends to lovers, my second favorite romance trope. I thought this was cute and sweet. The relationship between Kristen and Josh made me want to root for them. Much sadder than I anticipated, but a happy , if predictable ending. #romantsy
TW: infertility
And this is why JoJo Moyes is an autobuy author for me. A story of two women who became unlikely friends, faced adversity, found love and themselves in a small Appalachian town in the 1930s filled my heart.
This was wonderful. The way Lahiri writes I felt like I was right there in the room. The characters so rich and multi faceted, it was like they were my own friends and family.

I was so excited to read this book but unfortunately I was really disappointed. This book was all over the place. Characters introduced, seemed important and then just disappeared. Plot lines that led to nowhere. But 🙌 for diverse characters!
I think I would have enjoyed this more if I had ever heard the podcast. I was expecting more serial killer stories. They had some good advice, but as I am not a fan of them before this their personal stories did not resonate.
One of the best books I have read this year. As a medical social worker, this book helped remind me of some things that I needed to remember and will definitely help my practice for the better.

I am giving this a pick even though it was not what I expected. I wanted to be creeped out by real accounts of ghosts, and instead this was more about debunking myths, which is not nearly as much fun.

Beach read #4
Young widow and single mother falling in love again? I rolled my eyes a lot reading this one, so much bodice ripping, but also could not help but to swoon.
Beach read #3
My favorite book of the week. I devour Beverly Jenkins writing...as trope-y as they are.
Beach read #2
Would have been a pick if it was not for all the hashtags after every paragraph. 😒 But I am all here for the biracial MC and biracial love representation!
Beach read #1
I didn't know if a book set in Alaska would fit my.mood while laying on a Florida beach, but this book was so charming, I sped through it. Much more than a love story, also about a relationship between a daughter and father.

Last full day of vacay! I am feeling refreshed, recharged, and like I am finally coming out of my depressed and listless mood I have been struggling with!
I tagged along with my husband on his work trip to St.Pete's Beach. So while he is in meetings all day I am enjoying some time alone. A tropical storm is blowing through, but I am still enjoying the warm air. Patio doors wide open and reading in bed! 🌴
I loved this. There is a reason why it is a classic.

Still in a slump...spent the day watching Dance Moms and baking banana muffins. Hoping to snap out of it soon!!
Addi has been loving this book. 'Staying up late, forgetting to do chores because she is reading' love.
I, on the other hand, am in such a slump. But seeing her excitment and discussing this book, that I also loved, has been helping.
I have been trying to finish this book for over a month and it usually takes me less than a week to finish a book. I can't read more than a few pages before I get bored. I realky enjoyed Waters', The Paying Guests, but this one just isnt't grabbing me the same way. I feel very indifferent about the MC, Nancy. That is never a good sign for me.
Man, I am in a slump. No books sound good, no tv shows keep my interest. Back to school and extracurriculars is kicking my butt. I am tired and cranky and blah. Audiobooks are really helping get through daily life right now.
This series is so wonderful and I am sad it is at an end.
Trigger Warning: Suicide
I think this book could have had an important and impactful message.this book could have been about reducing stigma, listening to the signs, not being afraid to speak up. But instead, I found it really problematic. I thought it romantized teen suicide. I am over the tortured, mysterious, "sexy" trope.

I will never get enough of this world! This collection of novellas filled in some plot points, gave ua back story for secondary and tetiary characters and set things up for future books. And Jem and Tessa! ❤❤❤
