A Double Dose of Dilaudid
A Double Dose of Dilaudid: Real Stories from a Small-Town Er | Kerry Hamm
3 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
Welcome to a small-town Emergency Room in rural Ohio. While it's true our ER doesn't see the stabbing and gunshot action ERs see in inner cities, we have no shortage of the sad, the scary, the painful, and the just plain dumb. With more than 20 stories, things ER workers want to say to patients, and Emergency Room BINGO, 'A Double Dose of Dilaudid' will take you on a joyride to the funnier side of the ER. See what a bored husband did to get out of a date night with his wife, learn what happens when you try to make your own meth, and read about items men and women have inserted in their bodies.

If you want to know what it‘s like to work in my ER, this is it. Takes place in Ohio, not Michigan, but it‘s basically the same ER.
Quick read: done in three hours. Could have been less if I didn‘t fool on my phone or stop for a bathroom break.

Starting this tonight. I could have used the dilaudid for my migraine earlier, but I slept/rested for almost six hours instead.
Side note: I found some $110 sheets at target last night for 33 bucks. I hope they‘re comfy.

Good for a chuckle. I'm so addicted to medical books and I will never work directly in medicine. #litsypartyofone

RebL I could read medical stuff all day long, but make me watch it an my whole being gets queasy. 7y
MicheleinPhilly Same. I would love to be a surgeon but I can't even have blood drawn without fainting and/or vomiting. @RebL (edited) 7y
saguarosally @RebL I might even be able to watch, but in person? 7y

saguarosally @MicheleinPhilly I'm ok with blood, but I fear vomit. 7y
MicheleinPhilly @saguarosally I don't do well with that either. I'm what you'd call a "sympathetic puker." If I see it, smell it, hear someone expelling it, ?. 7y
RebL @saguarosally @MicheleinPhilly Litsy needs to make comments likable so I can imply agreement. Maybe 👊🏼😒🤢 will suffice. 7y
KathyWheeler @MicheleinPhilly Me too. With our kids, my husband was always the one to clean up the vomit; I'd have just been contributing to it if I'd tried to clean it. 7y
