1. Fast-paced or slow-burn?

It really depends on the shifting sands of the reading moods I'm caught up in at the moment (I do like caper romps), but I'm usually too slow and scattered of a reader for it to really matter if the plot takes me along or not. Crime and Punishment and Lord of the Rings were both slow-burns, but I'm grateful I stuck with them, appreciating the final sections of both.

My Dad was a big Tom Clancy fan. So naturally this was the first title that popped in my head.

How long will it take me to read this novel? That is the question I ask myself whenever I pick it up. I don't plan to rush through it since I have plenty of time and (of course) more books to read. This is the stack of books my fiance gave to me to read while he is deployed. So far, I have finished "The Death of Superman" and am now on "Rainbow Six" by Tom Clancy. Even though I can read fast, this novel is almost 900 pgs. I plan to read this in spurts maybe, but I'm not sure the best way to tackle this monster. My favorite semi-bookish gift! Has anyone read these books? ❤️I never have, I started with the game in high school

This was my first Tom Clancy book and a great introduction to his writing. This military fiction book focuses on a Multi-National Special Counter-Terrorist Group called "Rainbow" based out of England who are on call 24/7. Lots of action in this book with multiple mission settings. I enjoyed this as my first Tom Clancy novel. A great introduction to him as an author.
