The President is dead--and the weight, literally, of the world falls on Jack Ryan's shoulders, in Tom Clancy's newest and most extraordinary novel. I don't know what to do. Where's the manual, the training course, for this job? Whom (…more)

Half Price Books fiction grab bag. First, it said five books. Second, three books in series (not first books) and an Oprah‘s Book Club? Not what I imagined. Guess I‘ve got some new doorstops. At least the Preston sounds somewhat interesting.

From one of my favorite Tom Clancy books. Do people still read these, or are they lost in the shelves of used bookstores, never to be read again?

Great thriller as usual by Clancy. I think the tv show Designated Survivor was freely influenced by this book lol. "The President is dead--and the weight, literally, of the world falls on Jack Ryan's shoulders, in Tom Clancy's newest and most extraordinary novel. I don't know what to do. Where's the manual, the training course, for this job? Whom do I ask? Where do I go?" Entertaining level: ????? #Clary #2015Sha #DogsOfLitsy

This week's #TBT book is one I never read but always meant to. Back in high school I devoured Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan novels. I read Patriot Games through Debt of Honor (which definitely inspired last night's premiere of Designated Survivor) but could never bring myself to start the next in the series. I'd just started college and had no free time (plus it's 1,400 pages!) so it just sat on my shelf for years and years. Maybe someday I'll get to it.
