Night over Water | Ken Follett

I just love how Follet tells us a story. He ALWAYS get me involved!!! "'The opulent interior of the first airliner on a transatlantic flight from England to New York in war-darkened 1939 is the setting for Follett's high-flying caper, guaranteed to hold the reader in their seat... the master of epic suspense spins an excruciatingly taut drama, a whirlwind of romance and intrigue .. Great book. A classic. What is to be human? "A shipwrecked survivor discovers a remote island owned a crazed scientist who is carrying out sinister experiments on the island's inhabitants." Entertaining level: ⛴⛴⛴⛴ #Persefone #2015Sha #DogsOfLitsy

Sharp Objects: A Novel | Gillian Flynn

Despite the fact critics say this is a much better novel than Gone girl, I didn't like this book. "The novel tells the chilling tale of Camille Preaker, a Chicago based journalist originally hailing from Missouri, a self–harmer from a family with a troubled mother, a dead sister and a living stepsister whom she can‘t stand." LazyLibrary I didn't love it. Flynn writes such unlikable characters, but she was extremely unlikable! Hated the end! 7y

Longbourn | Jo Baker

Well written mixture of Pride and Prejudice meets Downton Abbey. It was delicious and fun to read. Let's not compare with Austen. "It's not sequel nor a disappointment, it‘s an affecting look at the world of “Pride and Prejudice,” but from another point of view — the servants‘ hall, where other lives are simultaneously lived, with very different concerns and dramas." Ok. I got it. Our destiny is uncertain. But wow this book was very tiresome to read. " What if you had the chance to live your life again and again, until you finally got it right? This book follows Ursula Todd as she lives through the turbulent events of the last century again and again." Entertaining level: ?? #Persefone #2015Sha #DogsOfLitsy

BarbaraBB Agree! Bit disappointing, not living up to the hype! 7y

Well written romantic book. Enjoyable reading. "Movingly written and plotted with the heartless skill of Greek tragedy. You'll keep turning the pages until the last racking sob' Wendy Holden, (Daily Mail') "A gripping tale of family love, grief and forgiveness' (Sunday Express') "A guilty pleasure' (Daily Express') "A moving coming-of-age story' (Heat')" Entertaining level: ????#2015Sha

Executive Orders | Tom Clancy

Great thriller as usual by Clancy. I think the tv show Designated Survivor was freely influenced by this book lol. "The President is dead--and the weight, literally, of the world falls on Jack Ryan's shoulders, in Tom Clancy's newest and most extraordinary novel. I don't know what to do. Where's the manual, the training course, for this job? Whom do I ask? Where do I go?" Entertaining level: ????? #Clary #2015Sha #DogsOfLitsy

I really like the criticism Franzen writes about Americans. He's a great writer. "But the family as microcosm or micro-history has become Franzen‘s particular subject, as it is no one else‘s today." Entertaining level: ???? #2015Sha

Page turner. Fun to read. "The genius of The Husband‘s Secret is that it makes us start to wonder what in our own lives would—or would not—have happened if, say, we had waited just five more minutes before we walked out the door, had not said that hurtful thing, had applied a bit of logic to that situation." Sepulchre | Kate Mosse

Historic fiction! Loved it! "In 1891, young Léonie Vernier and her brother arrive at the home of their widowed aunt in France. But nothing is as Léonie had imagined. Their aunt is young, willowy, and beautiful, and the estate is a subject of local superstition. Villagers claim that Léonie's late uncle died after summoning a demon from the old Visigoth sepulchre on its grounds..." Entertaining level: ♕♕♕♕ #Persefone #2015Sha #DogsOfLitsy
