TheBookHippie @BethM I only do ONCE A YEAR. But here I am bitching again 🤣👩🏻‍🍳 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 oh that‘s a thought!! 3mo
TheBookHippie @JenReadsAlot I‘m trying it I‘ll report back! 3mo
AnnR I immensely dislike frying bacon. So messy! 3mo
kspenmoll Oven! 3mo
Tamra Me too, oven only. Never looked back! 3mo
TheBookHippie @AnnR I loathe it!!! It‘s such a mess! 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie So simple, put it in and leave it and then can drain off all the fat. 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 So doing that! 3mo
Tamra I put mine on a parchment lined baking sheet (twist slices a little) and put in a cold oven - bake at 375. (edited) 3mo
AnnR Great tip, @Andrew65. Now I just need to purchase the AirFryer. 😂🙂👍 3mo
AnnR I think I'll use the oven method this year. Sometimes I forget about that as an option, so this was a timely post. 🙂👍 3mo
TheBookHippie @AnnR YAY!!! 3mo
TheBookHippie @Tamra oh good tip!!!! I‘m writing this all down for next year!!! 3mo
BookmarkTavern Cook on the griddle, but only so I can fry the hash browns in the bacon grease. 😂 3mo
CocoReads I usually make my husband cook it. Although he about smoked us out a couple days ago. Saved this article to give it a try next time I‘m off. 3mo
TheBookHippie @CocoReads IT WORKED!! I‘m so happy… 3mo
CocoReads Yay! For although I love it, like you, I hate cooking it. 3mo
Andrew65 @AnnR 😂😂😂 Best thing we ever bought, use it all the time. 3mo
dabbe I don't; my husband does! 🤩😂😃 3mo
TheBookHippie @dabbe it‘s such a mess 🤣🙃👩🏻‍🍳 3mo
dabbe @TheBookHippie It is, but man, the smell it makes throughout the house is beyond divine! 🤩 3mo
CoffeeNBooks I cook mine in the oven on a Pampered Chef stone bar pan- no messy kitchen clean-up, it cooks perfectly, and my kitchen still smells heavenly bacon-y. 😁 3mo
AnnR @Andrew65 - Just wondering if there is a specific brand of AirFryer you prefer? I've looked at sales during the past 2 years and become completely overwhelmed with all the choices. Some reviews by customers are positive and some negative. 😵 3mo
TheBookHippie @CoffeeNBooks OH!!! I have mine somewhere!!! I‘m going to dig it out! I never thought of that! 3mo
TheBookHippie @AnnR oh yes @Andrew65 guide us! 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie 😂 Must admit ours wasn‘t an expensive high end model one. Just a bog standard one from Russell Hobbs for less than £50 ($63) but only the two of us. Do use it a lot, lot cheaper to run than ovens and cooks much quicker and usually cooks things better. The word fryer is a misnomer, we use ours basically as a mini oven but also do chips in it. Best tasting chicken also comes out of it. @AnnR (edited) 3mo
Andrew65 We just explored some YouTube videos when buying one and looked at recommended models. Many of the Ninjas seem to do more than we wanted. We just looked for one we could use in the Motorhome as well when we‘re away rather than burning gas for the Oven. So just went for one with a single cooking drawer. If we used for home only might have gone for two drawers but kept away from the expensive high end models. @AnnR @TheBookHippie 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 I‘ve been wanting one a long time for chicken! 3mo
Andrew65 @AnnR @TheBookHippie Feel if you keep things simplistic and think as a mini oven can‘t go far wrong. Also allows things to be brushed with oil when needed for air frying option, as for chips etc. Does also make a mean Hunter‘s Chicken within about 20 minutes! I think the unknowns kept us from buying one for ages, eventually picked one up in the Summer and wouldn‘t go back. Just keep things simple. 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie I love the taste of chicken in it, best chicken I know. Also cooks things about 2/3 time and usually 20 degrees centigrade / Celsius lower. Must be more environmentally friendly as a result. Rarely have our oven on these days, barring Christmas Day 😂 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 yes these are the reasons I want one!! 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Put simply anything you can cook in an oven or in oil can be cooked in an air fryer but more healthily. Wouldn‘t go back. 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 most evening meal is just me and son (17)and grandson (9)with everyone else to work -so I thought this would be perfect! 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie It definitely would be. (edited) 3mo
Andrew65 Next up for me is trying to make scones in it. 3mo
CoffeeNBooks @Andrew65 Now I think I need an air fryer! 😁 My husband & I are soon to be empty-nesters, and it sounds like an air fryer would be perfect for cooking meals for just the 2 of us. 3mo
TheBookHippie @CoffeeNBooks Right? We all “need” one! 3mo
CoffeeNBooks @TheBookHippie Of course! If it's just a want, I can't justify it... but if I *need* an air fryer, it's imperative. 😂 3mo
Andrew65 @CoffeeNBooks It‘s a ‘need‘ 😂 and will quickly pay for itself with the cost of energy! 3mo
AnnR Thank you, @Andrew65. I likely will get one soonish. Our (gas) oven uses a lot of energy and most of the time I cook for two of us. I like the healthier aspect of an AirFryer, too. At least for today's meal I'm cooking enough food to make it worth turning on the oven. 3mo
AnnR Who knew that bacon would spark such a lively holiday discussion!? 😁😁😁 3mo
CoffeeNBooks @Andrew65 I now have one sitting in my Amazon cart. 😂 3mo
TheBookHippie @AnnR 🤣♥️🥓🥓🥓 It‘s so much fun! 3mo
Andrew65 @CoffeeNBooks 😂 That‘s where we bought ours from! Just call me an enabler 😂 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie 😂😂😂 I should be on commission! 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 YES!!! ♥️🤣🥓🏆 3mo
Andrew65 @AnnR It‘s alway food that sparks Christmas Day discussion. Last Christmas Day it was pancakes and what we have with them. @TheBookHippie (edited) 3mo
CoffeeNBooks @Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Yes! I remember the Great Pancake Discussion of 2022! This is why I love the Litsy community so much. 😁 3mo
Andrew65 @CoffeeNBooks I wonder what food product it will be in 2024! @TheBookHippie 3mo
TheBookHippie @CoffeeNBooks OMG I still use lemon!!! @Andrew65 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love Litsy for this reason!!! 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Hooray, glad to see lemon has lasted the course! 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 convinced school lemon was better at free breakfast as well 👀 I‘m a bit of a trouble maker… 3mo
Catsandbooks I only do bacon on a foil lined tray in the oven and after it has cooled I just have to wrap up the foil and toss it. Super easy clean up! 3mo
BethM This thread is spectacular. My hubs claims it tastes different in the oven hence, I don‘t cook it he has to. But ugh the clean up 😂 3mo
TheBookHippie @BethM this thread is life! 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie We hadn‘t noticed 😂😂😂 3mo
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 I keep that part quiet! 🤣 3mo
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie 🤫🤫🤫🤫🫡 3mo
CoffeeNBooks @TheBookHippie @Andrew65 I thought you could both appreciate the fact that my husband remembered me telling him about this conversation, and just got me an air fryer for my birthday! 😁 2mo
TheBookHippie @CoffeeNBooks YAY!!!!!!! 🥓🥓🥓 2mo

Complete Essays | Francis Bacon

Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider. Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.

Read merely as an historical appendix to gain insight & context into the political thought of those during the Revolutionary times. Very dry as expected and not necessarily too insight for modern readers. Placed in context, it could point towards some more radical ideas towards monarchical society.
