Bringing back a former tradition of reading this every December.
I‘ve been delaying reading this because it‘s a chunkster and doesn‘t fit in my work backpack. Then I said f$&ck it.
Way better than I was expecting. A little thriller a little gothic.
I haven‘t been all that enamored with any of her books; hopefully it changes with this one.
Fast paced. Multiple perspectives. Easy to be kept engaged while reading but the second I put it down I didn‘t think about it again.
Nope. Predictable. And when it‘s not predictable it‘s trying way too hard to throw you off. No subtlety.
My notes while reading:
- A little kitschy with the tongue in cheek dialogue and winky wink asides to the reader. A little annoying; a little fun.
- Love a good Death as narrator
- Trying to be witty…a little too hard. Rings false.
- Is everyone lazy?
- The constant moving around of characters is a lot.
Its a pick but I‘m annoyed about it.
Easy read. No brain power required.
Next up. Feels like a fall read.
Not my favorite Maisie Dobbs. Still, always a nice visit.
The narrator was a challenge initially. The story is fantastic.
Converted my friend @Karabenoit ! Give her a follow!
The last 90 pages something happens. The rest….nothing. It was boring.

Witty concept. Poor execution on audible. I found myself checking out constantly. Couldn‘t have cared less about the characters or whatever demon/ghost.
90 year old taking a weed gummy for “back pain”? Yup. Hilarious. Particularly in the hands of Kristan Higgins. She‘s my go to when I need a laugh, something easy but still engaging, and always features a dog. I read this in less than a day. I particularly needed a laugh. It delivers.
Good on audible. Not as good as the physical read.

My amazing, beautiful niece.
