Aphrodite: Goddess of Love | George O'Connor
5 posts | 7 read | 1 to read
In volume six of Olympians, graphic novel author/artist George O'Connor turns the spotlight on Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Look for the same thoroughly researched and wonderfully accessible comics storytelling as O'Connor tackles the story of the Aphrodite from her dramatic birth (emerging from sea-foam) to her role in the Trojan War. O'Connor has outdone himself with this volume: the story is riveting and the artwork is beyond compare. Greek mythology has never been so vivid! This title has Common Core connections. While I am obsessed with Greek mythology, I cant say I know much about Aphrodite. I enjoyed this one a lot.

This was a good read and the last of my Olympians comics. It wasnt my favorite, Poseidon was, but this was still a good one.

So I am currently in a Greek gods kick. (I go through kicks sometimes anywho...). This book series by George O'Conner is what got me started on it. I was looking for a comic book and this crossed my path. Now I'm finding more than the original six books he intended when he published the Zeus story. Absolutely love this book series!

I love that O‘Connor incorporated both versions of Aphrodite‘s birth, and her rationale for the stupid argument among the goddesses (golden apple of Eris, who is hilarious, by the way). However, she‘ll never be my favorite Olympian (my daughter‘s, though, at the moment).

3⭐️ I may be partial- she has never been a favorite of mine in Greek Mythology. For the first time today, O‘Conner‘s retelling was MEH. anyways still needed to read it.
