When I first joined Litsy, I thought it was a wonderful place to make new friends and talk about books. Now I know it is neither. Litsy is apparently a place where someone can attack you without rhyme or reason except to start a popularity contest or a political debate. Litsy is apparently a place where someone can defame and slander your character and the powers that be do nothing but sit idly by.

I am sick of people using this platform for their sadistic and malicious intentions. After seeing these things happen to me several times and several of my friends as well, I have come to the conclusion that I do not need this negativity in my life nor do I want it. ⬇️⬇️ 4y

Five short horror stories put together in graphic novel form. Very eerie!!! I really enjoyed reading this book and I enjoyed the artwork as well. Everything was very well done!

Birdsong28 I think you miss things on the first read because you are concentrating on the build up on the story so when you reread and know the ending you can see other aspects of story and maybe get something else out of it or it adds to the ending as you have seen it from another angle. 📚📖 4y

TheAromaofBooks I agree with @BethM - sometimes what I'm reading starts to stress me out so much that I can't really enjoy the story until I know how at least a certain portion of it turns out (Do they stay together? Does this person die? Etc.) There is also a certain comfort in reading formulaic books (i.e. romance) where you know that everyone ends up with happy endings! 4y

magyklyXdelish I am a HUGE spoiler queen. I live and thrive on spoilers. So for me I agree with this. It‘s more enjoyable for me because I hate the anxiety of not knowing. 4y

magyklyXdelish @TheAromaofBooks I agree with you. If something starts to stress me out too much I‘ll always look ahead to ease the anxiety. All the people I know hate spoilers so I e always felt an odd duck about this. 4y

ItsAnotherJen I like jumping into something without knowing anything about it! Reading reviews sometimes can hurt the reading experience in *some* cases. I love reading reviews though, I can't stay away from them...😂🤷‍♀️ 4y

TheDaysGoBy Generally I stay away from spoilers. I don‘t want to be influenced in how I read the story. It‘s also why I stay away from the reviews on goodreads - I don‘t want anyone‘s opinion to influence my own. But the second I‘m done reading I love reading all the reviews to see if people agreed with me or not 😂 But for me I live for suspense and if you know how it ends, you kinda kill that 4y

CindyMyLifeIsLit I need suspense!! With literary classics, you often know the end, and that‘s okay because a huge part of reading a classic is analysis of style. But other books—I can‘t imagine reading a thriller or horror novel for the first time already knowing the ending. Some of my best, most memorable reading moments are when an unexpected twist almost knocks me out of my chair. That raw, visceral reaction is one of the things that makes reading so great! 4y

Emilymdxn I don‘t find knowing spoilers makes much difference to me, it doesn‘t seem to affect my appreciation of a book much either way! Any book of any genre im quite blasé about it, I‘m lucky it‘s not really possible to have books ruined for me 4y

Cheshirecat913 I have a huge habit of flipping to the last pages and reading how things end up. Maybe it is reader's anxiety like others have mentioned. I find that most of the time it doesn't ruin the book because how it ended up at that point is still a journey to read through. 4y

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm It never “ruins” the book, but it definitely doesn‘t provide the same punch as when you‘re totally surprised by it. I prefer not knowing. 4y

vlwelser There are some books/movies that are never quite the same once you know the ending. Examples are Fight Club, Shutter Island, The Sixth Sense. These are all still good. But there's no way to replicate how awesome the first time was. 4y

There‘s one hosted at the Indianapolis state fair grounds every year and the first time I walked in, I knew, this was it, this was my Holy Grail. I go home with a cart full of books every year. 😅 4y

marleed I wanted to read this for so long. I knew I needed the physical book so I could tag pages since people have noted its complexity. I waited so long that know I thought I should hunt a thrifted copy. And last weekend in the midst of a downpour I found a mint condition copy in a LFL. I walked 3 miles home with the book tucked into my leggings and under my t-shirt. It arrived dry. I think I‘ll save for an Oct read! 4y

TheAromaofBooks I enjoyed this one a lot, but sometimes I feel like thrillers go “one twist too far“ - and this was one of those instances, so I'll be interested to see what you think of the ending, which I felt like sacrificed some credulity to get more WHAAAAA feelings at the end haha 4y

This book was okay. It was very intriguing in the beginning and the prospect of having it be a Labyrinth retelling really got me excited. But towards the end of the book it ended up being a chore to read as things slowed down exponentially. It's sad because I really wanted to like this one all the way through.

Who Fears Death | Nnedi Okorafor

Meh

so-so

I will say that I appreciate what the author of this book was trying to do and the things that she was trying to convey. I appreciate this book for the simple fantasy novel that it is but for the real world issues that this book touches on quite heavily, I felt it there just should have been more to it.

Laughterhp Is it scary? I see in the Litsy blurb it mentions horror. I‘m a big wimp so I want to double check before I say yes. 4y

BeansPage @Laughterhp yes it is in the horror genre but it is short stories and poems. Where my book is a little different from most horror collections is that in every story the main characters exhibit different mental illnesses. There are some triggers however as the book does touch on things like self-harm and suicide. 4y

Very entertaining! Simple scary stories from around the world. I love that, under the title of each story, it states what country/region the story is from. While the reading level is at about middle grade, some of the content may not be. Some of these stories are pretty gruesome. Loved the artwork too. Great addition to the stories.

Unsheltered: A Novel | Barbara Kingsolver

Damn, I wanted to like this book so much! The first chapter deals with a suicide and the way the book describes the circumstances triggered me and distressed me nearly to the point of having to stop reading it. But I tried to continue.
Then the book took a wild turn where it seemed as if the author was preaching to the reader about her own personal views. Political nonsense that no one really wants or needs to hear from a work of fiction.
