SOOO MUCH FUN!
An epic quest for an illusive cure to save the children of Ku-fu which inlcudes ghosts, magic, trickery, romance, fantastic beasts and quite a bit of wine ?

My cheeky second pick for #foodandlit China, as this book is a "Novel of an ancient China that never was"
It's of course based on Chinese mythology, but there is no need to know any of it to enjoy the story (you'll feel clever if you do though ;))

It does not get more #fullofadventure than this; ancient china, detective mystery involving a plague which can count, ancient wrongs which need to be corrected, gods, demons and all kinds of monsters told from the viewpoint of two very likable if not completely moral protagonists(master Li has a "slight" flaw in his character)

kammartinez Ahhhh, Bridge of Birds! I really loved this book; utterly hilarious XD. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa That sounds very interesting... adding! 8y

Ha, this is the easiest day for me in the #augustofpages #augustphotochallenge because almost all of my books are used. Growing up most of my books came from garage sales or thrift shops. Now that I'm supporting myself and two cats on a nonprofit salary (in a city with a ridiculously expensive housing market) I mostly rely on the library, or buy from recycled reads, powells, and half price books to feed my addiction. 😃

jpmcwisemorgan Wait, you're in Austin? I LOVE Recycled Reads!!! 8y
MrBook Incredible! Love it 😎👌🏻!!! 8y
marixa Omg thank you! I did not know about Recycled Reads, and I was just on Burnet yesterday! 8y

Eyelit @jpmcwisemorgan yep, in Austin. I love that paperbacks are $1 at RR and try to get up there (I'm a S Austin gal) at least every other month. 😃 8y
Eyelit @marixa Recycled Reads is small, but awesome! Paperbacks $1, Hardcovers $2 just like library sales. 😄 I also heard that the brand new library will have an additional recycled reads storefront! Which means I don't have to trek all the way north anymore (hopefully) 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 Recycled Reads is wonderful! I used to work for the APL and spent some time helping out there. It's true the new main branch will have a satellite RR. 😀😀 8y
Eyelit Thanks for the confirmation of the rumor I heard @kaysreadinglife you've just made my day! 8y
jpmcwisemorgan More Recycled Reads, and at least two other Litsy users in Austin. My week has significantly improved. 8y

The first in the Master Li and Number Ten Ox series set in an ancient China that never was but should have been. Think of a fun Holmes and Watson style pastiche, except the Holmes character Master Li is a 100+ year old irascible former scholar and Ox is his large peasant offsider.

Oblomov26 A fantasy story full of gods, goddesses, evil immortals as well as a cast of crazy and likable supporting characters. These books are silly, chocked full of adventure and also surprisingly touching 8y
