I dont know why but i thought I would like this book more than i did. It was still powerful but Amber's debut was more memorable and powerful. I really liked the l as plot and the characters of the book. I will definitely read this authors next novel.

Feb 6 again. I don't exactly like this cover for a YA novel, but there are more people Han just me out there.

Johanna414 I don‘t see this being something my students would gravitate towards 7y
LibrarianRyan @Johanna414 that's what I think. The teens I know wouldn't touch it. 7y

After reading The Way I Used to Be, a book I venomously detested, Amber Smith has redeemed herself with a realistic exploration of domestic violence and it's aftermath on the family. High school junior Brooke Winters has everything going for her until her mother kills her abusive father in self-defense. Now Brooke is left with the pieces as she goes through a journey of self discovery and try to bring family back together. Beautiful and moving.

McDonalds drive thru line. It's always good to be prepared. My TBR piles are too huge to waste even a minute.
