OMG, as a Book Reviewer, I run into this issue all the time 😩
What about you guys?
#BookNerdProblems
Beckys_Books I have a hard time bailing on a book, but I'm getting better. 7y
ptkpepe98 As my Mount TBR grows, I find it easier to bail, but still not too often.😬 7y
Melissa_J I feel no guilt over bailing, ever. Just explain your reasons why the book didn‘t work for you. I always read lower rated book reviews. I actually find them to be more useful than glowing reviews. 7y

CouronneDhiver I don‘t mind bailing ... onward and upward! I would feel differently if I were paid/compensated for the reviews. 7y
Cityofamber I have no issues with this. However I won‘t give a starred rating on goodreads/ other sites if I DNF because that doesn‘t seem fair. ;) 7y
Arcana I try to give the book a chance to get better, but when it doesn‘t, I bail without guilt. There are too many books on my TBR to waste time on a story that isn‘t working for me. (edited) 7y
Ruthiella I‘m with @Beckys_Books I am slowly getting better about allowing myself to DNF but I have to fight the sense of obligation to finish! 7y
ComradeMao omg totally! 7y
SandyW My husband freed me of my need to finish a book I don't like. If I'm ambivalent, I tend to start skimming. @Cityofamber If the book is so bad that I drop it, I give it one star... Reviews are based on personal taste after all. If I drop it because I don't have the time/energy to give the story, I usually don't review it on GR, I would write a blurb about it here though. 7y
NeeSwee Yes!! If it‘s really bad, I try to read in sections (like 50 pages a day) and then reward myself with a book of my own choosing!! 🤓 7y
epsitawithane Exactly.. i can't help it.. it feels like I'm doing it some injustice. 7y
Shvonne I used to try and finish them but now I give up after 50 pages. 7y
Billbrarian It just happened to me with a Netgalley pick today. I just couldn‘t take anymore and had to DNF. 7y
CarolynM If it's for book group I will try to stick it out, otherwise if I get to page 100 and I'm wondering why I'm reading it I happily bail. 7y
tracey38 I'm not a reviewer but don't worry anymore about bailing on a book I don't like. Too many good books out there! But I can see how someone who reviews books would have a really tough time. 7y
