Picture books! I had so much fun in the picture books part of the library, but my teenage son dragged me out of there (he was hangry). Couldn't even take a picture of my book for Z.

And, I read many more but already had those letters covered. 😁

julesG @LapReader It is. It was self-inflicted, though. He didn't have breakfast - not even a tiny bite to eat - before leaving the house. It was bound to happen. Well, I treated him to a large falafel pita and he scarfed it down in no time. Dessert was on him, I got ice-cream. 😁 5y

#AbbaInAugust Day 25: Proud to have been part of the CYBILS judging Committee in 2015 for Picturebook Category that awarded this as best picturebook. Definitely #TheWinnerTakesItAll. What I like best about this story is how self-possessed the girl appears throughout – a young girl with a mind of her own. I recently saw a recommendation online for this lovely picture book. There are no words to accompany the lovely illustrations but I think that makes this story more meaningful. A little girl on her walk really sees the world around her while her father is unaware of the everyday beauty that surrounds him. This book is a great reminder to be in the moment!
