Low pick for me - I think I liked the atmosphere more than most of the characters! But, I was compelled to read it. The whole school sounds spooky, and I‘d love to see a place steeped in so much history and lore.

I guess the message from this is that grief affects everyone differently, and we‘re all running away from something, whether it‘s grief or stress or trauma or something else that consumes us. #PemberLittens #JaneAdjacent

Librarybelle #BBRC #TeenAngst #SnowballEffect - the loss of a loved one catapulted an entire family into grief and pain, causing them to lose interest or the inability to interact with past favorite activities, and in a sense, with each other. @LibrarianRyan 15h
StayCurious Low pick for me as well. Not quite a so-so. I enjoyed it enough to make it a low pick 6h

Mehso-so

Wow…just wow. Dumpster fire, meet banana pants crazy! Without assessing blame or even guessing at psychotic diagnoses, this account is just one hot mess. There are decisions made that I would not make…I lost any naivety of humanity a really long time ago.

There is a part of me that feels sympathy for the author, but my cold, sarcastic heart isn‘t quite as sympathetic.

What a wild ride, and I am eager for the #SundayBuddyRead discussion!

CaramelLunacy I tried to feel sympathy, but the whole thing felt disingenuous. She didn't get caught up because she was just so good natured, she got caught up being greedy for the VIP life. Totally understandable, but she didn't acknowledge that so I was left largely unmoved. 1w
Librarybelle @CaramelLunacy Really good analysis! 1w

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I feel like she should have seen the red flags at the very beginning! This was nuts! 1w
kspenmoll Agree with you. @CaramelLunacy! Both characters were a mess, greedy, vile will do anything for the VIP life as you said! If not for #sundaybuddyread I would have stopped reading it!!! (edited) 1w

What an absolute delight revisiting Nancy Drew! I last read these roughly 30 years ago, and I can see why I enjoyed reading them with my mom. Nancy is daring and gets herself into a few nail biting scrapes. #CuriosityKilledTheCat …or very nearly. #MiddleGrade #BBRC #NancyDrewBR

Ruthiella If someone had told me at 10 years old that I would be re-reading Nancy Drew 40 + years later on an electronic device…my little mind would have been blown. 😆 3w
LibrarianRyan I love these. I am so interested to she how the original versions different from the newer version. I have the first 8 but haven‘t gotten to a read read yet. 3w

Librarybelle @LibrarianRyan I‘d be curious too! I‘m sure there are some changes! 3w
tpixie It was fun reading this for both #ChildrensClassicRead2023 & #NancyDrewBR Our 10-year-old selves would be in awe of ereaders, audiobooks, and Litsy! @Ruthiella (edited) 3w

I am so glad I discovered these through #PemberLittens ! Mr. Darcy and Miss Tilney are once again thrust into a murder mystery, with acquaintances suspected of murder. They‘ll have to clear names, #OffTheHook , and examine their own feelings towards each other. This has been a fun way to look at Austen‘s characters and new characters in Austen‘s works, and I‘m looking forward to book 3 next year! #JaneAdjacent #BBRC #YeahBaby

LibrarianRyan Yeahhh 2mo
CaramelLunacy I just read The Murder of Mr Wickham and loved Miss Tilney and young Darcy. I was disappointed in the characterization of the Wentworths in that one, but not so much to put me off another venture into this Austenland. Must see if available at the library! 2mo
Librarybelle @CaramelLunacy I read that one last month - I was not in complete agreement with the characterization of Fanny Bertram. In this second book, the Ferrars and Dashwoods are in the novel, and I had no issue with how they were portrayed. 2mo

I‘ve found my current level. Hooray!

A young (and very special) werewolf starts her new school, and just wants to make friends and be treated as normal. Buuuut… A sweet, pretty, story with some lovely touches (the evening howl), supportive friends, a teensy bit of tension, and a healthy amount of gardening!

#BBRC #MiddleGrade #BarkingUpTheWrongTree (or at least howling underneath a cherry tree).

LiteraryinLawrence This looks delightful! 3mo

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in a day. The banter was great and the way the two MC treated each other was so empathetic. Very refreshing that the hero didn‘t have to be strong and virile all the time to get a reader to root for him. I want to read more!!! #BookSpin #12 #BFC23 #MMDSpringBookPreview #Rushathon #ReadySetRead #BookChain #SociallyDistancedBookClubAtoZ #ReadtheStates #BBRC Once Bitten, Twice Shy
