Emperor's New Clothes
Emperor's New Clothes | Ruth Belov Gross
1 post | 1 read
Virginia Lee Burton has added her own irrepressible humor in pictures and design to the tale children have loved for centuries. The Emperor, his court, and clothes -- or lack of them -- are ridiculous as only Hans Christian Andersen can make them. The whole is a delightful concoction.

The Emperor's New Clothes is a TL by Hans Christian Anderson and retold by Ruth Belov Gross is perfect for a RT in classrooms. In a kingdom with an emperor who loved new clothes come two swindlers who say they can make the finest cloth- so beautiful that some people cannot even see it! When told that only stupid people and people that are not good at their jobs cannot see it, everyone in the kingdom falls into the swindlers lie!

JordanD With humorous illustrations by Jack Kent this book promises to leave the reader giggling at every page! http://www.primaryconcepts.com/parts/articles/MD3871.pdf this link takes you to a Readers Theatre script for students. I would use UDL strategy 5.3 and EL strategy 2 to promote cooperation for the RT and building fluency with practice. (edited) 7y
DrSpalding Readers theater is just right for building fluency. Being that these stories are meant to be shared aloud, this is an excellent strategy. (edited) 7y
JordanD @DrSpalding I agree! Not to mention this story left me and my friends giggling, I'm sure students would get a kick out of reading this one aloud! 7y
ashley.v This sounds like a very humorous book. I will have to read it. 7y
