Crazy Christians
Crazy Christians: A Call to Follow Jesus | Michael Curry
3 posts | 2 read | 1 reading | 1 to read
An invigorating view of faith from the first African American Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. What the Church needs, what this world needs, are some Christians who are as crazy as the Lord. Crazy enough to love like Jesus, to give like Jesus, to forgive like Jesus, to do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with Godlike Jesus. Crazy enough to dare to change the world. From the very first page, Bishop Michael B. Currys fresh, robust take on religion is unafraid to ask the tough questions. Crazy Christians is an upfront, unflinching call to those who boldly follow Christ and dare to march to beat of their own drum. Filled with inspiring sermons, including Bishop Currys acclaimed 2012 General Convention address, this inspiring book takes a provocative look at what it really takes to make a difference. Bishop Curry encourages all of us to let go of conventions and embrace the craziness of believing we can change the world for the better.

A collection of addresses given by Presiding Bishop Curry when he was Bishop of the Diocese of NC, these are best if you hear them in his voice. If you haven‘t heard him, he preached at the royal wedding https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5gonlKodrmk It‘s all about radical love and the call to love and welcome everyone, no exceptions.

GingerAntics We certainly need more of that! Love that guy! 5y
Lcsmcat @GingerAntics He‘s wonderful- every bit of what he preaches. 5y
GingerAntics He seems it. He also just seems so happy/joyful. He‘s the type of guy you‘d want to just spend time with because it would rub off. He even had the Archbishop of Canterbury laughing in interviews before the wedding. “It‘s like being in Mama‘s house!” 5y
Lcsmcat He is! I don‘t know him very well personally, but he‘s a friend of my sister and brother-in-law so I know it‘s genuine. 5y

“an inn where all are received joyously” that‘s the goal! #currentlyreading

Graywacke Fascinating paragraph! 5y
Lcsmcat @Graywacke I wish he had written this when I was in school trying to debunk the theory that my church was founded just so Henry VIII could get a divorce. 5y
Lcsmcat Michael Curry was my bishop, is now the Presiding Bishop. (And preached at the latest royal wedding.) 5y

When you wake up in the morning, called by God to be a self again, if you want to know who you are, watch your feet. Because where your feet take you, that is who you are.
