Heart of Tango
Heart of Tango | Elia Barcel
3 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
A ghostly tale of a love that is cursed, set in the smoky, passionate atmosphere of 1920s Buenos Aires: Natalia is to be married to a German sailor much older than herself, but two days before the wedding she meets Diego, a mysterious young dancer, and they fall immediately in love. When he serenades her on the eve of the ceremony, Natalia's father unwittingly invites him to the festivities. There they dance a tango charged with passion, before Diego vanishes, knowing she is lost to him. Soon after the marriage Natalia's father dies, and her husband is lost at sea, presumed dead. Penniless and alone, she endures a desperate existence until she becomes a dancer in a tango hall. Diego discovers her there and vows to bring her away from this existence, but their reunion has devastating consequences. Many years later, the spirit of the dance and the lovers' longing for each other draws together two strangers in a haunting meeting, a fusion of time and identities, despair and hope.

Happy 2021 everyone.
Here is my GR summary.
My favourite part of this analysis is always the least popular books. I would love to know what the other 252 people who read the heart of tango thought about it .
I am also always surprised which was least popular and also most popular. I wasn't sure if the testaments, or girl woman other would beat normal people.

I like to pretend I'm not interested but peep over my bk when Strictly is on &admire the drama of the tango + this bk captures the sensuality & drama perfectly. A love story set in1920 Buenos aires Natalia is to marry a coarse sailor but on her wedding day dances the tango with Diego. The subsequent drama is compelling in this short bk . Id definitely recommend it, + I'm polishing my 2 left dancing shoes as I speak.
