pickYou can‘t beat the classics. Very well written but quite backward facing and unusual. Maigret sets up for a convicted killer who is due to be executed to escape from prison believing him to be innocent, and hoping it will lead him to the real killer. Short at 160 pages but thoroughly enjoyable.
I have just watched a couple of Episodes of the Maigret series produced in 1991 after buying the DVD on Ebay. It is really enjoyable and interesting to watch and is a lot easier to follow than the more modern detective stories on TV at the moment. I didn't realise how many Maigret books were written. I guess my to read list will expand greatly once I start to order them.
@JulietteGF I loved everything in the box a little bit of everything I love to read and all the book marks and keychain and incense and notepad, the postcard (which I‘m gonna make a display in a frame) the coffee(I will be choosing one to make in my French press in the morning) but can we take a moment to appreciate this beautiful book. I feel like it belongs in a large stately library owned by a eccentric old man.(Its a good thing) I 💜it
