Been reading about ketogenic diets for 7 months now. The science seems good, and in between my work-related science papers, I am learning more about this diet. So then I started one. Within a couple of days my asthma symptoms were gone! That alone is worth it, but I am hoping for fat loss, too. This book is a little extreme, compared to some other resources. A good start, nonetheless.

Txdmarie I have thought about doing this but the thought of losing my pasta scares me. I‘m Italian so pasta is life. Lol. I‘ve also heard that you get sluggish the first few days. Is that true? 7y

susanw Been doing this for about 18 months. And have never felt better. I never feel bloated. Eating this way really fixes a lot of problems caused by inflammation in the body. At first you do miss the carbs but pretty shortly after it goes away. The added fat is totally satisfying. 7y
AngelErin I did keto and lost 97 lbs! I still eat low carb high protein and I feel great. It does fix a lot of issues. 7y

No_One @Txdmarie yes, I‘ll be honest, I had a few days of awful headaches, cloudy head and sluggishness. But it does not last! Everyone is different but they say it takes approx 3 days to become ketogenic. I also love pasta, but the saving grace of this diet is that it is high fat. That makes a huge difference in satiety. 7y
No_One @susanw that is very encouraging! Yes, besides treating asthma and fat loss I want to do what I can to reduce inflammation, which leads to all kinds of disease states. Cancer is my biggest fear. 🙁 7y

Aseleener @Txdmarie It's caused by an imbalance in electrolytes, so the best thing to do is drink beef broth or an electrolyte drink like Propel. It helps a lot. 7y
