This is a low pick for me. While there are great characters and an intricate plot as with Penny's other books, I prefer her cozy mysteries, and this one is more of a political thriller, though I was happy to see some activity in Three Pines. Warning for other readers: this is not a standalone story but a sequel to The Grey Wolf.

Another excellent addition to the cold case expert - Karen Pirie series.

I love cold case detective stories, I love how different the procedurals are and how new evinced are discovered.
Val does an amazing job with these cases from the past; she brings an urgency to them that makes you really care about the outcome.

Bonus - surviving another year of grief as I celebrated my mom with a Big Mac. The things you do for love 😘

I struggle with this one.

I didn't connect with any of the characters, in fact I kept thinking that if it weren't for Kyle (who I hate, by the way) this whole story wouldn't exist.

The slow pace, character driven plot just didn't grab me like the Farseer Trilogy did.

However, I understand that Hobb develops her stories over time, and I can see a lot of potential in this trilogy and its importance in the overall Elderling series.

Even more magical than part one!
It's high spring and the art shows every spectacular detail of the beauty of the secret garden.
Combined with Collin's new found strength and appreciation for life it's a bitter sweet ending.

This has always been one of my favorite childhood stories.
So when I discovered it was turned into graphic novels, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

The adaptation is incredibly faithful and features stunning artwork.
I found myself just as immersed in this secret garden as I was in Frances Hodgson Burnett's original.

I'm thrilled that I already own part 2.

I‘m not much of a scary book connoisseur, but here are a few that have stuck in my mind.
1. The Dead Zone 😱😱😱 Page turner!
2. Hard Truth 😱😱😱😱 Very unsettling murder mystery

What a magnificent tale of loss, grief and ethical uncertainty.

Typically, I'm not a fan of the literary genre, but this one really fascinated me.
This enigmatic, heartfelt journey through the Amazon, being immersed in a different culture while grappling with personal inner turmoil just worked for me.

Now I will also need to explore Bel Canto.

2. The smell and feel of new school supplies. Each folder and notebook was color coordinated and the “ugly” colors were always my math ones 🤣
3. New clothes for the school year! Omg! Is there a better feeling than feeling 100% confident in your first day of school outfit?!
