What a magnificent tale of loss, grief and ethical uncertainty.

Typically, I'm not a fan of the literary genre, but this one really fascinated me.
This enigmatic, heartfelt journey through the Amazon, being immersed in a different culture while grappling with personal inner turmoil just worked for me.

Now I will also need to explore Bel Canto.

1. Scholastic book fairs and the book flyers - I‘m still searching for the high these two things gave me 😂
2. The smell and feel of new school supplies. Each folder and notebook was color coordinated and the “ugly” colors were always my math ones 🤣
3. New clothes for the school year! Omg! Is there a better feeling than feeling 100% confident in your first day of school outfit?!

This was a fun trip down memory lane @dabbe Thank you 😁

Leftcoastzen Love your choices! 3w
Aims42 @Leftcoastzen Awww, thanks!! 🥰 3w
dabbe Boy, are we alike! As an English teacher, I furnished my whole room library thanks to Scholastic! Handling all the money, though, whoah! Same for #s 2 and 3! Thanks for sharing. 🧡🤎💛 3w
Aims42 @dabbe Lol!! I can‘t imagine all the money that would come in, and it was all cash and checks back in the day too 😆 No Zelle, no Venmo lol 💛🧡🩷 3w

1. School was my safe space. I lived for Monday mornings.
2. As a teacher, making relationships. If I can get my fifth graders to laugh, I am victorious.
3. When a book I'm reading causes a reaction. Boom. Mic Drop. I love teaching ela and social studies.

@Roary47 I had my tp roll on my desk yesterday while I was putting my room in order. Thought of you.

Karisa #1 same! It‘s a big part of why I became a teacher (6th grade History + Art). Have a wonderful school year! 3w
dabbe Chills on #s 2 and 3. Hugs for #1. Have a fabulous school year! Thanks for sharing. 💛🤎🧡 3w
Roary47 @Butterfinger 🤣 One of my students brought me Kleenex because of my toilet paper low resources hack. So I have some now! Have a great school year. 🥰💛 3w

1. Scholastic book fair.
2. Silent reading. Favorite part of the day.
3. Watching one act plays/airbands in high school put on by the drama club.
Tagging some people to keep the ball rolling. What are your favorite school memories, or things you love about teaching or parenting school age kids.

dabbe As a student and teacher, I lived for the Scholastic books fairs! That's how I was able to furnish a library in my room! L😍VE #s 2 and 3, too! Thanks for sharing. 💛🤎🧡 3w

Dark, atmospheric with a touch of the supernatural. A Mystery braided with Gothic dread.
The only complaint I have is the slow-burn, I was more in the mood for an immediate adrenaline hit.

🤯🤗Absolutely LOVED everything about this Jack McEvoy #1/Bosch Universe #5 book!! Highly recommended!

Not sure if I‘ll be able to hold out & to read them in Universe order (#s 24 & 32😳). Regardless, I‘ll be buying them on my next bookstore run ‘cause my grandma will be waiting for it soon😂 I left it with her Saturday & she‘s a very quick reader.

This started out with real promise, but quickly derailed.
The multiple POV and the 3 different time lines with the first person voices sounding so much alike made this too much work for the mediocre end.

Texreader Whew! These can be some tough “listens”!! 3mo
Enchanted_Bibliophile @Texreader I'm so glad I had the audio, otherwise I would have DNF it 3mo
TheAromaofBooks Personally, if there are more than 2 POVs, I think the entire book should be in third person instead. 3mo
Enchanted_Bibliophile @TheAromaofBooks Totally agree, it just makes for easier reading. 2mo

I've seen the movie many years ago, so I knew what was to come.
But even knowing the big twist, I still found this very enticing and entertaining. All the subtle foreshadowing throughout the book, the tiny details one would miss on a first read.
All done masterfully.

I found this one excruciatingly slow and pleonastic.
I still appreciate the story and morals, but feel there's better adaptations out today.
